สาวเครือฟ้า - Sao Kreua Fah (1953) is produced by Tae Prakardwutthisan. Tae Prakardwutthisan’s second movie is featuring actor Chalit Susewee (ชลิต สุเสวี) and actress Wilaiwan Watthanaphanit. It was shot in Chiang Mai (including Doi Suthep) in year 1952 and released in year 1953. It is a sad romantic movie (ชีวิตรักโศก). Famous veteran comic actor Sompong Phonmitr is also acting. Officer Roitree (ร้อยตรีพร้อม) meets Kreua Fa (Wilaiwan Watthanaphanit) the first time and falls immediately in love. Kreua Fa is a traditional dancer (ฟ้อน) and is the daughter of a mahout. He goes to her home and meets an old lady raising Kreua Fa since she is a child. Love emerges. Roitree and Kreua Fa have a son. World War I happens. One day Roitree learns that he has to move to Bangkok. He goes to Europe as airplane pilot. He is injured. Back to Thailand, he gets awarded by a higher military rank but has lost memory about the past. He doesn’t remember Kreua Fah and his child. His parents force him to marry a girl from a high lineage. One day, he goes with his wife in Chiang Mai for a plane exhibition. Kreua Fah, aware, is waiting for him. Disappointing that Roitree is married and doesn’t remember her, she gets suicide. Roitree finally recovers memory but it is too late... The 1953 movie is lost in Thailand but hopefully a 16mm behind the sequence of ten minutes is still available. It was given by Tae Prakardwutthisan himself in year 1988 to the Thai Film Archives. It is pure happiness to see sharp pictures of Chalit Susewee and Wilaiwan Watthanaphanit more than 60 years after the movie was shot. In year 1957 Wilaiwan Watthanaphanit got a Thai cinema award (ตุ๊กตาทองนำหญิง) for this movie for the first opus of the Thai cinema awards. At that time, most of the theaters had contracts to use foreign films the whole year so it was difficult for Thai movies to get slots. As Thai movies were not numerous at that time, Sao Kreua Fa was even shown the same year a few times during different months (shown 5 times in 4 different theaters level 1 – โรงหนังชั้นหนึ่ง). Even the Thai King and Thai Queen saw it. Many remakes were released, i.e. Thai TV series in 1971, 1991, 1996 and Thai movies in 1965 (Mitr Chaibancha and Pissamai Wilaisak), 1980 (Nirut Sirijanya and Supansa Nuengpirom). Movie สาวเครือฟ้า was going to be sold to Russia but the Russian distributor realised it was a 16mm movie so needing live dubbing for each projection! The plan foiled. Tae Prakardwutthisan nevertheless recommended to use 35mm format for next movies.

Thai movie ลูกหญิง was released in year 1965. Her first movie was in ลูกนก. She played in other movies such as แก้มทอง, บัวหลวง, ชาละวัน. At that time, Ratanaporn Intarakamhaeng was very famous but started to be too old for romance movies (being more than 30 years old). So marketers wanted to introduce a new actress with a younger face similar to Ratanaporn Intarakamhaeng to play the role of daughter / mother. Movie director is น้อย กมลวาทิน. Movie producer is Ratanaporn Intarakamhaeng. The film was never released on VHS / VCD / DVD format but the movie in 16mm format can still be seen in Thailand. It was found in the South of Thailand in Surat Thani thanks to a teacher and collector of old items in Songkhla area. Two reels are left so only 48 minutes can be seen. A dubbed version was shown in Thai Film Archives in 2020. The remaining film is very damaged but still colorful. The movie takes place in Chiang Mai and then in Bangkok. Chaiya Suriyun plays two roles as a father and a younger man (wearing a moustache) being a musician. Following a fight in a bar, Wissanoo (Chaiya Suriyun) is injured and left for dead. His daughter, Luk Ying (Ratanaporn Noi), asks for help. Pol passing by with Thipsuda (Chadaporn Wachirapranee) decides to help. At the hospital, Thipsuda helps to pay for the bill. Thipsuda becomes finally Wissanoo's new wife (เมียใหม่). Years have passed. Luk Ying is now an adult. Thipsuda is always jealous about Luk Ying (ลำบากใจ). Wissanoo decides to send his daughter to her grandfather’s (Somkuan Krajangsat) home in Chiang Mai. Adul (Adul Dulyarat), a policeman, is injured and cured at the grandfather’s house so he has the chance to know Luk Ying (ลูกหญิง). Adul is going to marry Luk Ying so the father Wissanoo (นักดนตรี) is invited to the wedding. Arriving there, he recalls his relationship with Walai (Ratanaporn Intarakamhaeng), Luk Ying's mother. He feels bad to have sent his daughter in Chiang Mai. He recalls he met Walai in similar condition in an event in Chiang Mai many years ago and asked her to live in Bangkok with her. They fled to Bangkok as Wissanoo was a poor musician and Walai, the unique granddaughter of a rich man (Somkuan Krajangsat). Wissanoo and Walai had a daughter called Luuk Ying. After a few years for unclear reasons, Walai left back to Chiang Mai and left behind her husband and daughter. She wrote a letter but Wissanoo burnt before reading it. The 48 minutes ends when they meet again at Luk Ying’s wedding and their love is still here.

Athon is held prisoner by godfather Lieng Saen Meuang. Athon took godfather Lieng Saen Meuang's love. Athon's wife, Chao Kham Fa, and his child, Somtam, shall be killed but finally they succeed to flee. Twenty years have passed. Somtam is now a grown-up adult excelling in Thai Boxing. A young lady Khun Rat always give him support (กำลังใจ). Somtam is kidnapped by godfather Lieng Saen Meuang, who tries to falsify a Thai boxing game in order to gain money (ชนะบนเวที). Somtam refuses to get 50 000 baht to lose a match. Godfather Lieng Saen Meuang is very upset. Pieng Dao is the daughter of godfather Lieng Saen Meuang and she is an university student. Godfather Lieng Saen Meuang is involved in Thai boxing world (วงการมวย). This godfather (เจ้าพ่อ) has bad influence (อิทธิพล). Lieng Saen Meuang uses his daughter to learn more about Somtam, who is also an university student. He tries to excuse himself and invite Somtam in Chiang Mai to dig more about Somtam's parents. Chao Kham Fa doesn't want Somtam to be around godfather Lieng Saen Meuang. Somtam, Rat and Phairot, Somtam's close friend, accept to go. In Chiang Mai, godfather Lieng Saen Meuang tries to abuse Chom's daughter and finally strangles her. Chom was a loyal ruffian since years but this vile act forces him to change. Athon is held prisoner there since 24 years. A trap is organized by godfather Lieng Saen Meuang to verify the linkage between Athon and Somtam. Chom, fed up Lieng Saen Meuang, decides to betray (ทรยศ) and helps Athon to flee. Back to Bangkok, there is misunderstanding between Somtam and Pieng Dao as Somtam believes she is as bad as her father. Finally love starts between Somtam and Pieng Dao. It is a deception for Rat and Phairot. Godfather Lieng Saen Meuang recruits a killer, Chot, to execute Somtam as he is too close to his daughter. Chot cannot do the job as he is a former friend of Somtam. Somtam is injured by another ruffian. Pieng Dao tries to protect Somtam (ลูกทรยศ). Godfather Lieng Saen Meuang leaves to Chiang Mai. Athon and Chom decide to take their revenge. During a final fight Chom, Chot and Godfather Lieng Saen Meuang die. They all pay for their crimes (ชดใช้กรรม). Another typical movie of 1960s decade with the funny comedian group (ตัวกง) played by Lor Tok and Sukon Koewliam, the kind and nice leading actress (นางเอก) playing by Petchara Chaowarat and the leading actor (พระเอก) played by Mitr Chaibancha.

Thai movie สันกำแพง was released in year 1968. The movie is lost in Thailand but a 90 minutes sequence remains to be seen. The movie is 16mm format so in mute state as such format needs dubbing. Main actor is Sombat Methanee and there are two main actresses, i.e. Aranya Namwong and Suthisa Putnuch. Prim Praphaporn is flirting with a man. Kan (กานต์) (Sombat Methanee) and Sai Mai (สายไหม) (Aranya Namwong) are discussing together during a party. The next day, they are going to Buddhist temple (ทำบุญ) together and maybe to have a common promise. Romance is happening between them. Kan is leaving Chiang Mai by train. Primpaporn is in the same train. They have a flirt. Back to Chiang Mai, Kan is punched by the man flirting with Primpaporn. Finally Kan is reunited with Aranya through a classic scene under the rain. They take refuge in a hut due to the strong storm. They have a daughter called Sai Nam Pheung (สายน้ำผึ้ง) (Suthisa Putnuch). Prim announces to Aranya that Kan is hers. Aranya is unhappy about this news and tells it clearly to Kan. Kan blames Prim. Prim delivers a son and tries to get suicide as she cannot get Kan's love. Twenty years later, their children meet in Chiang Mai. Will they be able to have a love story after their parents' failure twenty years ago? Sombat Methanee is also playing the role of Suriyon (สุริยน) (child) and has a love story with Sai Nam Pheung. Suriyon meets Sai Nam Pheung and a romance starts during Songkran festival. Suriyon is captured by ruffians led by Choomporn Theppitak and Sawin Sawangrat. Then two Sombat Methanee can be seen on the screen, i.e. Kan and Suriyon. A fight with ruffians leader is happening in order to release Suriyon lynching on a tree by the feet. The movie features seven songs. A remake was done in year 1981 with Sorapong Chatree.

Ratom is a young Thai lady living in Hong Kong. Buakam, Ratom's friend, sings songs in a bar frequented by US sailors. Ratom has to replace Buakam as she is leaving to Laos. Ratom is waiting for her father at the Kai Tak airport in Hong Kong. He has disappeared for 10 years. He (เจ้าพ่อ) comes back with a young new wife (แม่ใหม่). His father visits her in Hong Kong and they go to visit seaside. Robbers including a young man called Lak (Sombat Methanee) steal their belongings. Ratom sympathizes with Lak as both of them have a sad life. Lak can sing well and protects her against the other bad ruffians. Her mother kills herself due her treacherous husband so Ratom has to sing again in bars. This movie shows old Hong Kong with Kwun Tung police station, rickshaws, old double decker buses, chinese dresses cheongsam, Aberdeen. Her father is not happy that she stays with Lak so he brings her to Laos. Lak decides to follow her. This movie features numerous songs including molam and foreign songs. The movie mixes romance and action. Lak has to rescue her from a camp located in the jungle. The father and soldiers chase them. There is some inconsistency as from Laos, they can reach rapidly the sea! The father succeeds to catch Lak but the soldiers decide to kill both Lak and the father. Finally they can all escape and love between Ratom and Lak can finally become true.

Thai movie ชู้ / The Adulterer was released in year 1972. It was released under VCD format by company XxX (Triple X). Movie director is Piak Poster. Movie ชู้ is his third movie. Piak Poster used a new unknown main actress called Wandee Sritrang. A boat is caught in a storm. The only survivor is a young lady (Riem) that is stranded on a remote island. A strong but lonely man (Cheung) rescues her. The man, who didn't have contact with any woman for years, forces her to have a relationship with him. They finally become wife and husband. Their first child is a boy. One day, Cheung gets fish poison into the eyes. Riem has to go to nearest fishing village to look for the doctor. The doctor is away but a young man (Thep) is replacing him. Riem and Thep have been lovers before. Thep is a seductive guy and a womaniser. He is aware that beautiful and expensive white pearls can be found in Cheung's island. He manipulates Riem saying that Cheung has many pearls, whose he doesn't want to share with Riem for the good sake of their child's future. He resumes his relationship with Riem. He cures slowly Cheung and drugs him every night to search for his pearls chest with Riem. Forgetting to eat drugs one night, Cheung starts to be aware of the situation. He knows that his wife Riem and her lover Thep want to get his pearl treasure and get rid of him. So lying to them that he needs to dive to get the pearls to share with them, Riem and Thep feed him that so he can recover fast. Simulating blindness, he is aware of everything. He brings them to a remote island where he reveals his secret and perforate the boats preventing any return. Riem has late sorrows, i.e. she was dumped by Thep before getting on the fishing boat caught in the storm and then raped by Cheung, so unlucky she is. Cheung looses his anger and wishes to let them go. He leaves to bring her son to Riem but Thep wishes to take revenge and tries to kill him. Finally while trying to protect Cheung and his son, Riem is shot by Thep. Cheung leaves the island with a dying Riem and Thep is left alone on the remote island where nobody never stops... This movie is about adultery described in a non conventional way with action and stage setting reduce to the minimum on a remote island. It is far from Bangkokian romantic drama with palatial suburban estate house. Krung Srivilai received a Thai award for his performance. This movie was so successful that it was screened again in 1975. The Culture Ministry registers 25 Thai classic films each year at the National Film Heritage Registry. This movie is part of the 25 films heritage list announced on 04 October 2015, which is Thai Movies Conservation Day.

Thai movie อ้อมอกเจ้าพระยา was released in year 1972 and lasts 2h07mn. It was released under DVD format by company Happy Time Marketing. It features a sharp and colorful image. Saonai is coming from a rich family (ผู้ดี) and living in Hong Kong. Khun Wang (played by Hong Kong number one actor Jin Fong - จินฟง) is her chaperon. It is really nice to see again Hong Kong almost forty years ago with Love Rock scenery, views from the Peak, old cars, absence of high buildings, boat people settlements. Saonai wishes to experience life with poor people so she settles in Mongkok with boat people (ชาวเรือสลัม) community. She pays an old lady to play her mother. Kla is a Thai captain, whose cargo is berthing in Hong Kong a few days. Saonai hits his small pinnace and he falls into the water. Love starts between Saonai and Kla. Khun Wang continues to look for Saonai following her father's orders. Ruffians hit Kla and bring back Saonai to her father. The father wants a good husband (มีนามมีฐานะ) for his daughter and not a sailor. Kla knows the truth about Saonai thanks to the old lady. Saonai is a modern lady believing in love and heart choice. Her father wishes to marry her to Khun Wang (พ่อใจร้ายไม่เห็นใจ). But Khun Wang promises to help Saonai to find Kla. Kla is back to Thailand disappointed by Saonai’s lies. In Thailand a young lady, called Porn, loves Kla but Kla indulges in alcohol as he cannot forget Saonai. Saonai arrives in Thailand and looks for captain Kla at the Bangkok port. Kla already resigned from his job. Saonai looks for him in Bang Kapi district. Thanks to an old colleague, Kla is aware that Saonai is looking for him. But they miss each other. Saonai wishes to kill herself. She is helped by Porn. Kla's younger brother, Keng, meets Saonai at Porn's house. She is renamed as Araya. Keng loves her at first sight and promises himself to achieve his goal to build a family. So love feelings are mixed through a few people (Saonai, Kla, Porn, Keng). Saonai fails to meet Kla at Keng's home but understands he is the one she was looking for. Keng is aware of Saonai's love towards Kla. Disappointed by this news, he has a car accident and is almost blind. Anyway he told Kla the good news about Saonai. Meanwhile love emerges between Khun Wang and Porn. Following some last minute misunderstandings (อกหัก), Saonai and Kla are reunited. Three couples have now happiness as Keng falls in love with Khun Wang’s younger sister. This old 1973 movie still features beautiful colorful picture and songs. Aranya Namwong is shining. This movie features an homage to the Chao Phraya river, an homage to the Thai King and the Thai Queen during their birthday celebrations with colorful lightings in Bangkok, an homage to the good Chinese Thai relations.

Sombat Methanee, Kamthorn Suwanpiyasiri, Pan Borapet, Jamroon Nuatjim, Tasawan Saneewong, Boosara Narumit, Tat Ekathat, Metta Roongrat, Malee Wetpraseri, Rong Kaomulkadee are the main actors and actresses featured in this movie. Movie director is ชุติมา สุวรรณรัต. A baby girl is abandoned in the forest as she has a deformed face (ลูกผี). She is rescued by Tat Ekathat and is named Sopi. At school, she is rejected by other children. Being an adult, her face becomes normal but a awful decease endangers her (อย่าพบความรัก). If she gives life to a baby, she shall die. Her parents (played by Boosara Narumit and Kamthorn Suwanpiyasiri) prevent her from seeing any boy. Chakapan (Sombat Methanee), a Bangkok young man, falls in love with her and asks for her hand but Sopi's parents refuse (เรื่องหัวใจ). Pim (Metta Roongrat) and Rong Kaomulkadee are having a romance. They keep helping Chakapan and Sopi. Sopi is aggressed by two ruffians, including Pan Borapet, working for the village leader. She flees but falls from a cliff. Chakapan saves Sopi's life so her parents finally accept the wedding but knowing that she shall die following a pregnancy. Sopi is now pregnant. Following delivery, Sopi's deformed face is back, so she flees from home with her child. She ends up dying in Chakapan's arms per the doomed prediction.

Montree (Yodchai Meksuwan) is a famous sport student in the university. Kesa (Choomporn Theppitak) introduces him to sexy lady Kha (อภิญญา วีระขจร). Basaba (สุคนธ์ทิพย์ เสนะวงศ์) and Jintara (Pawana Chanajit) are close friends and are joking about Montree. Kha makes Montree drinks a lot. Montree flees before sleeping with her making her very upset. Busaba's father and Jintara's mother have decided to marry. This is a new wedding for the parents (Amara Asavananda and Adul Dulyarat). The grandfather (Preuhat Boonlong) hopes to have a grandson (หลาน) so that his son's life is useful (เสียชาติเกิด)! Busaba and Jintara become half-sisters but from different father and mother! Jealousy often occurs between the two sisters as Jintara likes to have or to use everything that Busaba has. Busaba has interests in Montree. Jintara hides to read playboy. Jintara starts to be jealous to see Busaba and Montree together. Jintara tries to take Montree away from Busaba. Montree is confused. The grandfather wants a son to keep the family lineage. He pushes his son to take a minor wife as the new wife is still not pregnant. Jintara is blamed by her mother as she keeps having bad behavior, i.e. เอาแต่ใจตัวเอง. Jintara collapses (เป็นลม) due to big headache. A doctor finds she has a brain cancer. She has only six months to live. She changes her behavior and becomes a nice person (ความหวังดี). She tries to reunite Montree and Busaba but it fails. In order to push back Montree to Busaba, she stops showing interest to Montree and simulates to be interested in another student called Asawin. Fighting occurs between Asawin and Montree. Montree is injured. Montree’s mother, Juree Osiri, complains that Jintara brings troubles to her son (ลูกไม่รักดี). Jintara's mother is finally pregnant. Montree wishes to know the truth behind Jintara's behavior change. Jintara’s health is getting worse. Her mother is about to deliver and Jintara has still to perform the school theater performance for orphelin children. Her theater performance becomes similar to her real life as she collapses during the last scene (ฉากสุดท้าย). Yot wishes to marry with Suntaya but she doesn't want to hurt Alissa. One day Suntaya feels dizzy while walking in Bangkok. She is pregnant. Pong brings her to the doctor. Yot has then a misunderstanding that Suntaya sees secretly Pong. Being sick, Yot visits Suntaya and is surprised by Alissa. Alissa is disappointed by her friend (น่าเจ็บใจ, เสียดายเพื่อนรัก). Feeling guilty, Suntaya is lost. Pong, aware of the situation, proposes to marry her to ensure the child has a father. Finally Suntaya writes a letter to Alissa and disappears. Yot only realises that she was pregnant. Suntaya is now a teacher in a remote hill tribe village. Sukon Koewliam is also playing a short domestic helper role. Pong's friend, a doctor, meets Suntaya in the village and warns Pong as she is going to deliver her baby. It is discovered that Suntaya has hemophilia (รอดไม่ได้). Pong warns Yot. Alissa also joins. During a final touching sequence, Suntaya gives her baby to Yot and Alissa, then passes away.

She asks him to send her home. Afraid to succumb to Uma, he flees. The next day, he meets his old friend Kowit. Ek finally declares his love to Uma. Kowit (Krung Srivilai) is trying to seduce Uma for years but it stayed at friendship level only. Uma accepts to go out with Ek. Phi Uma is drunk. Ek is ashamed to get a room from Boo Wibunnan, hotel manager. Uma's younger sister, Pracha / Pat (Pawana Chanajit), has just finished her studies in Chiang Mai. Uma makes Ek to promise not to ever foul with her sister. Kowit wishes to marry Uma. She is older then Ek so it won't be accepted by Thai conservative society. Uma only respects (นับถือ) Kowit. Pat is coming back. Ek and Uma always need to hide. Ek is tired by such relationship that cannot blossom. Ek's parents push him to meet Pat so he accepts to go shopping with her. Uma warns him he will be heartbroken (เธอจะเสียใจ) but he doesn't believe Uma. Pat is surprised as some people call Ek as khun Sangkom. Ek discloses he loved a woman before, but it is now over (สิ้นสุดแล้ว) and he has to use another name due to privacy protection. Uma is aware. Pat learns finally that Ek had a relationship with Uma. Ek claims it was due only to mood (เหล้า) and alcohol (เหล้า). Pat is now teacher in Pattaya. Ek gets a room there as overseas student (นักเรียนนอก) and follows her. He justifies love (ความรัก) vs lust (ความใคร่). Ek wishes to marry Pat. Pat refuses to marry her elder sister's husband (ผัว)! He insists on following her everywhere. She is going to marry another man called Amnat. Kowit visits Ek and punches him as Ek justifies himself by Uma's own desires (ความต้องการของพี่Uma). Kowit and Uma finally get engaged. Prat has quit her school. Ek is ready to die to marry her (ยอมตาย). He storms Uma's home and learns about the coming wedding. He races to reach it on time and brings a mess in the wedding. Pat flees with Ek. Uma and Kowit let them go as it is impossible to stop such strong real love. This modern movie from mid 1970s put the stress on feminine desire. Most of the previous Thai movies focus only on male desire.

Chosri Misommon, Sakuna's mother, asks for money. Amayichi gives a lot of tasks to the new secretary as he saw her with Chakawan so he is concerned for Sakuna. By keeping her busy, she will have no time to be around Chakawan. Sakuna's mother spends a lot of money gambling (30,000 THB). She asks her daughter to pay her debt. Sakuna still thinks about doctor Khanat. For the sake of her future child, Sakuna moves in a house rented by Chakawan (ทำหน้าที่). Mother (Amara Asavananda) visits Chakawan and Sakuna. Somkuan and Amara had Chakawan as son but finally Somkuan stayed with Kaem. Somkuan doesn't want his son to do the same mistake as he did. Khanat asks Sakuna to fly to Canada as he received a worrying letter from Sakuna's mother. Upset by her situation, Sakuna tries to get suicide. Amayichi takes care of her. Linda stops her relationship with Chakawan knowing he has another pregnant wife. Chakawan disappears for a few days. Sakuna has an accident as she jumps out of the car after an argument with Kaem. The baby dies. Chakawan is upset as he believes she did it on purpose. Chakawan pays Sakuna's mother expenses so the mother doesn't want to lose such a good son-in-law. She wants her daughter Sakuna to forget Khanat. Amayichi tries to help (ความเข้าใจ). Situation is difficult as both still love each other but nobody is willing to disclose his heart, so they remain blocked on misunderstanding. Everybody wants to find solutions for them, i.e. Somkuan, the mother and Amayichi. Sakuna announced to Khanat that she will not follow him overseas. Chakawan is going to leave Thailand for Australia. Amayichi is saying goodbye at the airport. He announces he is going to marry Vadika. Piak (เปี๊ยก) is Noi’s close friend. He is the son of a housekeeper working at Noi’s parents home. Piak loves secretly Noi since years. Parun is having a business in Chiang Mai sending artifacts abroad such as umbrella, carvings, silk... Parun often invites Noi to go out. It makes Piak very jealous. Love starts to emerge between Parun and Noi. Wattana asks Parun to break up with Noi before it is too late as she is still a young lady and Parun is a married man. But Parun continues his romance. Noi's father chases Parun from his home as he discovers that Parun is already married. His wife comes back from England and flies to Chiang Mai. She is pregnant. Noi cannot forget Parun. Disappointed by men, Noi wishes to make a break and takes refuge in Piak’s friend farm. With Piak, Noi starts to smile again. Noi cannot forget Parun but is now aware of Piak's true love. While painting landscape, Noi is bitten by a snake. Jum (จุ๋ม), also loving secretly Piak for years, helps Noi. Piak doesn't see Jum's love. Noi doesn't see Piak's love. Tum accepts to divorce with her husband as she knows there is no more love from him and Parun feels obliged to honor his promise to Noi. Piak asks to marry Noi but Noi also feels obliged to honor her promise to Parun. The domestic helper finally reveals Tum's pregnancy to Parun. Parun and Noi meet each other again and agree to cancel their promise (เลิกสัญญา). Parun and Tum are back together. Piak and Noi also. “Love can be sweet or bitter, we are still looking for it” is the conclusion of this sweet moralist Thai romance movie. A few romantic sweet songs with guitar are performed during the movie. The shooting highlights the beautiful landscapes of North of Thailand.

The tribe exchanges goods from the forest with Thai villagers at the market. Anao, the village leader’s son, is good at sales so Lamhap’s parents appreciate him. The movie highlights their everyday life in the forest, i.e. getting fruits and food from the forest, be aware of danger such as snake and tiger... It is a beautiful ode to natural life. There is a contest to shoot flowers and to win ladies hearts. Jealousy happens between Sompla and the village leader’s son, Anao (Pinyo Parnnui), as both love Lamhap. Lamhap prefers Sompla but the marriage decision is linked to her parents’ choice. The village leader wants his son to become the next leader and wishes Anao to marry Lamhap. After a misunderstanding with Sompa, Lamhap accepts to marry the village leader’s son. The wedding is beautifully shot, and it reminds about Thai movie "The old scar" (แผลเก่า), which also features portraiture of Thai culture and way of life through a tragic romance. Sompa ruins the wedding night by making noise and sending rocks on their roof. While Anao goes out to catch the intruders, Sompla kidnaps Lamhap. The movie includes beautiful ambient light shooting with torches as the village leader’s family is chasing them. Sompla and Lamhap flee. They go deep inside the forest. They are tracked down due their fire smoke. A fight happens between Sompa and Anao. The winner shall get Lamhap. Sompa wins by attracting Anao inside the deep forest instead of fighting inside a clearing. Unfortunately, another fighter shoots Sompla with a poisonous arrow. Sompla dies and Lamhap kills herself over Sompla's body. This movie was directed by the General Major His Royal Highness Prince Bhanu Yukol, a pioneering Thai filmmaker. He was the uncle of famous director Prince ChatriChalerm Yukol. Thai actor Jatuphol Poopirom received a posthumous Thai award for his performance as he died in 1981 in a car accident. The movie soundtrack mixes a traditional and entertaining music. It is based on a novel (Romance of the Sakai) by Thai King Rama 5. The Culture Ministry registers 25 Thai classic films each year at the National Film Heritage Registry. This movie is part of the 25 films heritage list announced on 04 October 2015, which is Thai Movies Conservation Day.

A middle age father has three beautiful daughters, i.e. Thiep, Aew and Sa. They have been educated abroad. They get on well with Cherry, daughter of the house's maid. Happiness is daily present in the house. They play tricks to each other and rediscover Thailand (spicy food, usage of chopstick) after so many years abroad. Their father wants to send them to school to learn Thai customs and culture (เรียนเป็นคนไทย). They are not willing to go so Cherry teaches them. The father's best friend has three sons, i.e. Pol, Ten and Kiat. The three young men court the three ladies. The father decide to bring his three daughters to Chiang Mai to show them Thai countryside. The three young men also follow up. They go back together to Bangkok driving a van. A traffic accident happens. Aew is paralyzed and cannot walk again. Thiep becomes blind and cannot see again (มืดเกินไป). Sa doesn't have major injuries. The father believes it is linked to his karma and it doesn't change his love for his children. The three young men have only minor injuries. Thiep believes she has no use for society anymore. The romantic comedy evolves to a drama mixing happiness and sadness. Tensions erupt between the three sisters especially from Thiep. Before there were only smiles and laughters but now there is no more. Thiep thinks about suicide. Thiep rejects Sa as sister (เสียดวงตา - เสียดวงใจ) as she believes Sa is mean with her. The only way to cure Thiep is to find a eye donator for her. The three actresses provide an impressive dramatic performance with many teardrops. Sa wants to suicide in order that her eyes can be reused for Thiep. Thiep prevents the suicide. A donator is finally found by the hospital. The family is reunited and happiness is back. This movie is similar to a Piek poster movie with songs and reflection of Thai society with its good aspects and bad aspects.

Kreua Fa's father raised elephants. Local North people speak local northern dialect in the movie. Kreua Fa makes Hoi discover elephants’ life in the forest. The evil notable kidnaps Kreua Fa's baby to force her to become his wife. Kreua Fa's friends use elephants to release her and the notable is arrested for drug trafficking. One day Hoi is invited to Chiang Mai to demonstrate Thai airplanes. Kreua Fa hearing the plane believes Hoi comes back for her. Hoi has the feeling he went to Chiang Mai before losing his memory (ความทรองจำ). The new wife is aware of Kreua Fa but hides the truth to Hoi. Officer Pla explains the truth to Kreua Fa that Hoi lost memory as his plane was hit during the war. Kreua Fa needs to wait. Kreua Fa tries to get suicide. Finally aware of a ball given by high society, she decides to find Hoi. During the ball, arguments arise between Kreua Fa and Champa but Hoi cannot remember Kreua Fa. During childhood, young boy Lor (ลอ) is educated in a house where the father has two daughters already, i.e. Pheuan and Phaeng. Lor is always helping and supporting the youngest girl Phaeng (กวนตั้งแต่เป็นเด็ก). Phaeng (แพง) is always crying when Lok and Pheuan (เพื่อน) start playing games without her. Lor considers her as a younger sister. All the three friends are now adults. The movie features a nice representation of Thailand countryside life, i.e. rice harvest as a community with songs to encourage themselves and to make the work more fun, catch fishes in traditional way with a ingenious fish net, get lotus from pond, traditional way of doing rice fields with buffalo cart. Phaeng always tries to ruin Lor's courtship with Pheuan. Both start to be upset with Phaeng. Ien, another villager, tries to seduce Phaeng during the temple fair (หนังใหญ่). Lor is a perfect bachelor as he does not drink, does not play cards and is working hard. He is fianced with Pheuan and his wedding shall happen soon. Ieng asks Phaeng for wedding through his father but Phaeng refuses categorically as she doesn't love him. Finally Lor finally smiles regarding Phaeng's stubbornness. Jealousy starts between the two women especially as Lor is fiance with Pheuan. Phaeng tries to conquer Lor back by doing dishes he likes. He eats all the sticky rice not because it is delicious but because she made efforts to do it. Lok is surprised to know through Pheuan that Phaeng also loves him as he always considered her as a younger sister (น้อง). Lor promises in front of Buddha amulet to love Pheuan. If he fails the promise, he shall die! Lor cannot talk to Phaeng anymore following promise to Pheuan. Phaeng disappears and Lor misses her. Lor falls severely sick as he catches malaria. The doctor's assistant, Boontim, is a former love of Pheuan. The doctor's assistant offers gifts to Pheuan. Her heart starts to tangle. The assistant makes Pheuan discover the modern life (cosmetics, tennis, dance, car). Boontim asks Pheuan in marriage. Phaeng challenges Pheuan regarding her love towards Lor. Pheuan and Boontim represent the urban Thailand. Phaeng and Lor represent the rural Thailand. Boonpheng is a liar and a butterfly. Pheuan goes back to Lor (ปลาตัวเล็ก) and get all credits when Lok recovers from malaria. It makes Phaeng sad. Lor discovers a letter where Phaeng's friend writes the whole story about Pheuan's bad behavior behind Lor's back. Lor knows Phaeng's real value. They finally spent a night together despite Lor being married to Pheuan. Phaeng is now pregnant and refuses to say who is the father despite being severely beaten by her father. Lor decides to flee with her. Pheuan is aware of this and intentionally forgets to tell Phaeng that a ladder level is broken. During early morning Phaeng falls and finally dies due to internal bleeding while trying to find Lor. Disgusted by Pheuan's behavior, Lok finally chooses to go back with Phaeng, the only woman who loved him more than her own life, and drowns himself. The movie got many awards in 1983 (best actress, best director...). Cherd Songsri is famous for such Thai period films showing the power of love. This movie highlights feelings such as love, belief, promise, faithfulness. Cherd Songsri previously also directed the movie "The Scar" (แผลเก่า). Pat comes to the Buddhist temple to pray (อธิษฐาน) and asks the famous Buddha Luang Pho to help her to find her family relatives. Ot's mother (Sarinthip Siriwan) tries to find a rich bride for his son but he is not interested. The mother introduces Rattana's daughter, Prakairat, but to no avail. Oya dislikes Pat and a fight occurs as she treats Pat as a domestic helper. While trying to slap Pat, she falls in wet laundry. Finally, an enquiry is done, and it is confirmed that Pat's father is Ruj. Prakairat and her mother are concerned to lose a big part of Ruj's heritage. Ot asks Pat's hand and wishes to marry once she has finished her studies. The aunt wishes to meet Pat again to correct her past mistakes. Finally, a family meeting is organised regarding heritage sharing. The aunt does not apologize for anything and believes she has done the right thing to cause Ruj and Manee to split. Upset and disappointed by her family members behaviour, Pat rejects any rights she has on her father Ruj's heritage as she considers Mae Nom and her husband as her parents. Ot announces he will marry Pat. Love is more important than wealth. The family members are left with their wealth and unhappiness. Luang Pho has realized Pat's wishes as she found her relatives and even more as she met love (แรงอธิษฐาน).

As Kratin's parents cannot accept such love and wedding, they consider fleeing to the city. While diving, Rung finds a red pure gem (พลอยทะเล, น้ำดี). He plans to sell it to cure his mother (Juree Osiri) but makes the mistake to show it to another villager, father of Kratin. This one and his sons, arguing that Rung behaves badly with his daughter, try to kill him to steal the gem. Rung gives the jewel to Kratin and fights back. In front of Kratin's eyes, he is left for dead. He is only injured and succeeds to reach his mother's home where Sangpao rescues him. Kratin is sent to the city. She meets Sieng, the fishery lady boss (นาย)(Aranya Namwong), who recruits her as domestic helper. Rung recovers slowly and is still upset that the gem is not anymore with him. Sangpao takes care about Rung. A love story is about to start but it doesn’t bloom as Rung and Sangpao still have Kratin in mind. Kratin really believes Rung is dead so she is sad. Sieng’s brother, Samrien (Witoon Karuna), likes Kratin a lot and starts to seduce her. They become lovers. Kratin shows him the gem. Samrien decides to keep it until their wedding in order to avoid it is stolen by somebody else. One day, Sangpao finds Kratin in the city and informs her that Rung is not dead. Samrien refuses to give back the gem, refuses to let Kratin go and promises her that she will become the fishery owner. The movie shows the fishery work from a cultural point of view. It is bad fate (เวรกรรม) that Kratin saw Rung dead but now it is too late as she needs to have gratitude over the boss and her family. Finally Rung discovers the truth about Kratin and Samrien. Sangpao has to intervene to avoid Rung becoming violent. Sangpao and Kratin have arguments as Kratin cannot give the gem back. Rung also asks Kratin as he needs to cure his mother but she tries to manipulate him. Samrien refuses to give it back to Rung as he believes half of it belongs to him. The fisherman, who brought Rung and his mother to the city, asks for his money but Rung cannot pay him as he hasn't got the gem yet. During a fight the mother is stabbed and dies. A big storm is now happening. Samrien is endangered on a boat. Kratin asks Rung to help Samrien as his boat is stuck. Samrien encourages him not to go but Rung accepts as he is kind hearted so he releases the boat but disappears in the sea. Countryside people have often bigger heart than city people. This gem has caused many people to die. In the morning, the sea sends back Rung’s body. He is still alive and Sangpao had been waiting the whole night for him praying. Kratin finally finds Rung stranded on the beach. They promise love to each other. Kratin goes back to Samrien’s home to get the gem from a safe but it is no longer in the box. Rung doesn’t care about it anymore but Kratin refuses to follow him as she doesn’t want to live poorly on the island. It causes Rung’s ire as it shows she is more interested by the gem than Rung. He understands that only Songpao really loves him. Sangpao is the one, who gets the gem. A fight between Samrien and Rung occurs as Samrien still wants the gem. Rung defeats him and decides to go back to his island. Sangpao goes back with him. Samrien breaks up with Kratin. Rung sends the gem back in deep sea.

Thai movie สะพานรักสารสิน lasts 1h35mn. It was released under VCD many years ago but a HD version remastered is available since year 2015. It is based on a real story happened in 1973 on Phuket island. Sulaleewan Suwanthat is playing the mother. Kotham (Ron Banjongsang) is a good son as he is working in a farm of rubber tree and coconut and giving all his money to his mum. He is also driving local small bus to help his friend. He meets Hiu (Jintara Sookkapat), an university student who has good heart (น้ำใจ) to protect him with her umbrella while he is changing a bus wheel during a thunderstorm. Hiu’s father (Sahat Piempongsan) is aware that his daughter is seating in the front with Tom so he forbids her. Kotham buys a doll (ตุ๊กตา) for Hiu knowing she likes it. Romance starts between Hiu and Kotham . While enjoying a local festival, Hiu is surprised by her father and slapped (ลูกไม่รักดี). Back home, she is severely beaten by her father, who even disapproves his daughter going to university. The father meets khun Arun, an administrative officer, as he wishes him to marry her swiftly. Hiu offers herself to Kotham but he refuses (บูชา Hiu). They finally decide to flee on a remote island. Kotham becomes a diver to catch pearls and seashells. Police finds them and Kotham ends up in jail as Hiu is not yet 20 years old. The local Kamnan (Sawin Sawangrat) convinces the father to remove the complaint on Kotham. But the father doesn't forgive. He hits his daughter with a stick in front of Kotham. Hiu is pregnant. Kotham loses his mother. The father still wants his daughter to marry Arun. Only suicide appears a solution for the youngsters. The mother and Kotham’s friends wish to stop them but they are too late. The two corpses are found later clinched to each other. As they are inseparable even in the death, Hiu’s father orders to bury them together. This movie has also been registered as National Heritage per the 2016 list released by the Thai Film Archive.

Prior to 1865, women had no status in Thai society. They were looked down on as object with no significant value. Their parents and husbands had the right in law to pawn or sell them, just as they could pawn or sell their cattle. Hence the old Thai saying: "Women are buffaloes, men are humans". Muen was the daughter of peasants in Nontaburi Province. During a storm, she almost drown and was saved by a young monk called Rid. As she was love with the monk, she wanted to be close to him and succeeded to convince the temple abbot to be able to go to the temple school. Despite Thai society obstruction that thought that knowledge was useless for women, she learnt how to read and write. Her parents were trying to force her to marry Poo, who had alread several wives. She managed to escape and took refuge with Rid, who has left the monkhood for her. When he discovered where she was, Poo claimed under the law that Rid had abducted his wife. Muen was arrested, and suffered abuse and mistreatment in Jail. But she never gave up hope, and managed to escape and submit a petition to King Mongkut. She condemned the law as being unfair, and condemned Thai society for condoning men's exploitation and abuse of women. She faced the death penalty for her temerity; Thai society had lived by and respected the laws she attacked for centuries. The King issued a Royal Decree granting her a pardon. Based on a true story, the film celebrates an early case of a struggle for women's rights in Thailand, which resulted in a decree promulgated by King Mongkut in December 1865.

This movie relates about a love story that failed to succeed 30 years ago. In 2513 (1970) famous Thai actor Mitr Chaibancha dies. Saddened by this tragic event, young lady Pleun is hit by a car. The car owner, a young man called Rawee, brings her to Chonburi (Hin Hoi) as she wants to see where Mitr Chaibancha had his fatal accident. As Rawee's friend is out of town, they have to go to resort hotel. They appreciate each other and Rawee reads for her some pages extracted from Sri Burapha's novel "Songkram Chiwit" (สงครามชีวิต). It is a story of tragic romance and class conflict. Tomorrow Rawee will go studying outside Thailand for two years. In the next morning, he goes away and leaves the novel for Pleun. They promised to see each other on 8 October (8 ตุลา) in two years. Pleun decides to go to study at night time as she doesn't know how to read. She wishes to be able to read the novel Rawee gave her. She is working as sewer at daytime. A student, named Nim, likes her a lot. Pleun is accepted as tailor student thanks to her friend recommendation. She decides to change her name as Saen Chan same as the leading character from the book. She wait for Rawee's return. Two years passed. On 8 October 2515, she is waiting at the hotel. Rawee doesn't come. Nim is going to open his own shop and asks Saen Chan for wedding. She refuses as she is still hoping for Rawee return. She quits her hi-so mean boss (ใจด่า), who didn't give her any salary for two years. On 8 October 2516 Saen Chan comes again to the hotel. But only Nim is coming. On 8 October 2518 Saen Chan goes to hotel again. Rawee is now a teacher for fishermen children. Saen Chan cannot make love with him because she is still married. She wishes to die. She leaves her home and start to write a book. On 2519 a violent crackdown on students and protestors occurred led by Thai military. She doesn't meet Rawee that year. His school is closed as he is labeled as a communist. On 8 October 2520 the hotel is now closed. On 8 October 2522 Nim is waiting at the bungalow and asks her to come back with him. Nim is a nice guy but she doesn't love him. He rapes her. On 8 October 2523 a governmental amnesty for former CPT members allows them to come back into society. Rawee can leave his forest refuge. Rawee finds Nim, who is now married and has a child. Nobody knows where is Saen Chan. Rawee stays in the bungalow waiting for Saen Chan. He has malaria sickness. On 8 October 2524 she comes back but finally leaves as she is afraid of a bad trick from Nim again. Three years passed. On 8 October 2527 Nim is here again. Rawee has died but gave a book for Nim to edit their story. This movie features a nice restitution of 1970 atmosphere and mixes a tragic failed love story with the two major historical events in 1973 and 1976.

The story is taking place in an old palace close to Burma. The Northern house offers a beautiful setting for the shooting. It is based on Malai Choopinij’s classic 1943 novel. A visitor is coming and hears a very sad human crying at nighttime. It is an old man, who is crying in front of a grave. The intendant of the palace tells the visitor about the sad story behind. In 1933 Sammong, stepson of the the palace owner, was back from studies done abroad. His father was Nai Hang. Nai Hang met Yupadee, a beautiful sexy modern and independent young lady and they finally married. She met Sammong. Yupadee loved freedom, always spoke directly and without any taboo. She didn’t want to be linked by any ties to Thai society. She gave Sammong books "doll house" and "the prophet" that reflected her mindset. Sammong was still single and never had any girlfriend. He enjoyed the nature only. Yupadee always teased him. They started to be closer and closer (สนิท). Nai Hang realized this. He invited some important guests, who had an eighteen years old daughter, Panthip. Yupadee was expert at creating jealousy in Sammong’s heart to test his love. The mother tried to push Panthip towards Sammong’s heart but Panthip had already a love in her heart (ต้องใช้ชีวิตของนตัวเอง). Sammong caught a malaria fever (ไข้ป้า) but Yupadee took care about him and even wiped his body (อย่าบังคับความรู้สึกของตัวเอง). Nai Hang needed to go to the city to arrange for Sammong’s wedding. Yupadee simulated to be pregnant to avoid going with him so that she could stay. At the waterfall she teased Sammong utmost so that they finally became lovers (ชู้). Sammong had become lover with his stepfather's wife (เป็นเวรเป็นกรรม). They couldn’t stand to be separated anymore and always hid. Intendant Thip and servants were aware of their relationship. Nai Hang refused to believe this extramarital story or maybe expected that Sammong's own wedding would put back everything to normal. Nai Hang went for a trip again but came back at nighttime to find the lovers. They promised to each other not to be separated until end of eternity (ชั่วฟ้าดินสลาย). Nai Hang summoned them and put them a chain linking them. It was his bad karma that his wife and son loved each other. Due to the chain the love was slowly becoming hate as they were chained together all the time. Nai Hang refused to forgive as they had done a big sin. They tried to flee but it failed as Yupadee was afraid that Sammong would dump her once they were free. Love had become hatred. Nai Hang refused to give the chain key but gave one pistol. Yupadee was now pregnant. Sammong wished to kill himself so that Nai Hang forgave Yupadee and took care of his child. But finally Yupadee shot herself. Sammong became crazy and cries every night on Yupadee’s grave. A director's cut running for 3 hours and 10 minutes, one hour longer than the theatrical version, was released end of 2010. Two other Thai movies based on the same story were done in 1956 and 1980.

Jae (Patcharapa Chaichua) celebrates her 31th birthday. Thai ladies unmarried after 30 years are often discriminated as old stuff in Thai society. During her birthday party she meets Por (รูปหล่อ), a younger man being 24 years old. He calls her as elder sister (พี่สาว). Jae has gone through a 7 years relationship with a pilot but it ends up abruptly. Por is following Jae to her office. He loves her but faces discrimination from society and his friends as she is older than him (แก่ / ไม่เหมาะสม). Even Jae is confused as she knows she is older than him and also feels badly remarks from others. She doesn't trust him at the beginning (ไม่ชอบเด็ก) but his endless efforts finally convince her. Her former pilot boyfriend comes back and asks for forgiveness. She presents Por as a neighbour (น้องข้างบ้าน). Por feels hurt as his love is genuine. She realizes that the pilot is a real egoist always pushing back wedding as he is meeting other girls. She ends up with him definitely. Disappointed by Jae, Por goes to work on a remote oil rig in the middle of ocean. He accuses Jae not to have the courage to live her love and to face adversity. Finally they declare their love to each other just before Por leaves for a few months mission on the ocean. Movie "30 กำลังแจ๋ว" (Fabulous 30) was released in year 2011.

Thai movie ตะวันลับฟ้า was released in year 1975. It was never released under VCD format. It was released on Thai TV cable channels (Thai BPS, Chaloem Krung TV) and CH7. The movie was remastered in the decade 2010s and shown on Thai BPS. The remastered version lasts 1h43mn. It was also released on U-matic tape and only lasted 1h20mn. The full version probably lasts more than 2 hours as the remastered version is censored. Additional sequences can be seen in the U-matic tape version and other TV versions. Especially the scenes where Chompoo is in love with Tawan (จุดขายตะวันลับฟ้า). Those scenes are highlighted on the movie poster but are cut from the remastered version. This movie was not a commercial success as lesbian love (หญิงรักหญิง) was not a popular topic in 1975. Aranya Namwong was famous for daring to take all roles. It was hard for movie directors to find a beautiful stuntwoman the same as Aranya so finally, Araya had to play many scenes by herself. Movie director is ไพรัช กสิวัฒน์. Tawan's sister, Saeng Som (Kantima Daraphan), is married to Manot (Kwanchai Suriya), who is a soldier and has a bad view on students. Nirut shall go to the USA two years to finish his studies. Manot is not taking good care of his wife Saeng Som and has even a child with a minor wife. Saeng Som has a miscarriage so she has to go to hospital. In the USA, Nirut forgets Tawan with a young lady called Butree and still lies to Tawan. Saeng Som leaves for the USA as her wedding with Manot is going nowhere. Manot keeps drinking alcohol and tries to abuse Tawan. Finally, Tawan learns through Saeng Som that her fiancee Nirut has married another woman in the USA as she is pregnant. Tawan is so sad and disappointed. A singer (นักร้อง) gives back Manot as he is useless and penniless. Manot tries to change (กลับตัว) but fails. Saeng Som, his former wife, is going to marry again with a doctor. Manot is worried not to see his kids again and knows he has become useless towards his family. Tawan wishes to send Manot to hospital in order to cure his addiction. Manot wishes to get suicide to stop being a hindrance and dies being hit by a car. As Tawan rejects Choompoo’s lesbian love, Choompoo tries to kill Tawan as she is not willing to share Tawan with anybody. Chompoo is getting crazy. Her friend brings Tawan to Buri's house (Sombat Methanee) as Tawan, being a decorator (มัณฑนากรสาว), is hired to decorate his house. Pa Nuan (Marasri Bangchang). Invited to a party, Tawan meets Nirut, the new chief district officer (นายอำเภอ), who still loves Tawan. Paen Pleumsachai tries to abuse Aranya but Buri helps. Sithao Petcharoen is working as a house designer with Tawan. Nirut promises to divorce and Tawan believes him. There is ongoing preparation of a new home for the future bride (เจ้าสาว). Who will be the lucky one (ใครจะโชคดี)? Buri recommends Tawan not to wait as he believes that Nirut, per his position of chief district officer, will not divorce. Nirut meets secretly Tawan but is discovered by his wife Butree. Aware, Buri declares they are old friends and that next month, Tawan and Buri will marry! Tawan doesn't have happiness with Buri as jealousy prevails. Tawan visits Chompoo but she hasn't fully recovered. Tawan is pregnant. Tawan and Choompoo shall not meet each other again for Choompoo's good sake. Tawan refuses to come back to Buri's house. Tawan decides to drink medicine to kill the baby but finally changes her mind as the baby is not responsible for the current situation. Choompoo wishes to kill Buri as she knows Tawan is unhappy and knows that the child is unwanted. Buri keeps drinking and falls sick. Chompoo storms Buri’s home to kill him. Decided to get her wedding a last chance, Tawan goes back home to see Chompoo about to kill Buri. Nirut, alerted by Tawan, comes to help and is going to shoot Chompoo. Tawan begs Chompoo not to kill the father of her child. Chompoo finally kills herself. Tawan decides to go back with Buri.

A new girl student Pai arrives to university. She is not sure if her new roommate, Kaem, is a tomboy or a girl (ผู้หญิง). She would like to change the room but it is not possible. Cohabitation is not easy. Jane, another student, likes Kaem a lot. Kaem tries to win friendship from Pai. Various characters such as a ladyboy are also featured. Through her kindness, Kaem succeeds to become Pai's close friend. Both Jane and Pai start to be close to Kaem. Finally Kaem discovers that Pai has already a boyfriend called Wen (ผู้ชายมารับ). But it is more a friend than a boyfriend (แฟน) according to Pai. Some jealousy happens between Jane and Pai regarding Kaem as Pai believes Jane is boygirl with Kaem. Wen despises tomboys (ผิดธรรมชาติ). Love emerges between Kaem and Pai but Wen tries to push away Kaem as such love is not natural. Lesbian love is a rare theme in Thai movies (เรื่องของเรา). Pai is not ready to announce it widely. She is still a bit shameful. She hides all pictures when her mum visits her flat. Her mother denigrates Kaem without knowing she is Pai's closest friend. A misunderstanding between Kaem and Jane makes Pai believes Jane and Kaem are cheating her. Finally being in despair, Kaem goes to Pai's home and a difficult discussion happens with the mother. Pai rejects this relationship as she doesn't feel comfortable towards her mum, towards her friends, towards society. But finally as love is being stronger, Pai goes to Kaem's home town to be reunited with her. This romantic comedy "Yes or no" (อยากรัก ก็รักเลย) was released in year 2010. "Yes or No" Opus 2 was released in year 2012. 'Yes or No' first opus was a box office flop in Thailand. Film production cost 15M baht and box office revenue was only 15.3M baht (cinemas takes a 50% cut). In China it had a limited release. In Indonesia it was banned immediately. The movie did make lucrative business elsewhere (DVD sales, T-shirts, posters, CD soundtracks). It became a hit with regional audiences in places like Taiwan, Macau, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia despite the ban. "Yes or No" movie received awards such as Special Jury Mention Award at Festival MIX in Milan, Italy.

Thai movie Yes or No 2.5 (เพื่อรักเธอ ภาค 3) was released in year 2015. It lasts 1h43mn. Pii is roommate with Wine (Suppanad Jittaleela). Both are tomboys. Young girls called Fah and Pim are moving in front of Pii's flat. Fah is university student. Pim has a boyfriend called Jet. Wine cannot forget Pim. Pii tries to use Fah in order for Wine to forget Pim. But it looks like Pii falls for Fah. It is reciprocal. But Pii only wants to stay as friendship level (พี่น้อง). Both cry when alone. Back to home, Wine announces to Pii that she will follow her advice to ask Fah to become her girlfriend. Pii also blames Pim for being unfair and unclear with Wine. Previously Pim took care of Wine when she was sick and also declared being fond of Wine but still stayed with Jet as it was more natural to be with a boy. Pii tells her to follow what she likes and not what others like. As they are going to be graduated soon, Jet asks for Pim's hand. Confused, Pim accepts to follow her parents' wishes. Wine is getting sick again. Finally Wine and Fah splits together and Pii can be with Fah. Pii discovers that Pim is still wearing the ring that Wine gives her 3 years ago. Pim has to decide what she wants to do, be unhappy her whole life with Jet or follow her true nature. Pim flees from her engagement party. A few days Pim goes back to her home with Wine to explain the situation. The father is very upset (จะเอาหน้าไหวที่ไหน? เป็นผู้หญิงทั้งคู่) but the mum promises to talk to him. Wine asks they give them a chance. Wine may not be a man but can still bring happiness to Pim. The movie ends with same-sex marriages. Suppanad Jittaleela has become a teen heart-throb in China after the two first opus of "Yes or No". Part 3 is not a sequel to the original two movies. Thai gay movies are rare. Thai lesbian movies are even rarer.
