Thai movie เพลงรัก…เพื่อเธอ was released in year 1978 and lasts 2h10mn. It was never released in Thailand. The romance movie was lost except for a last copy of the 35mm film saved in Thai Film Archives. Thai Film Archives screened and dubbed the movie a few times on their premises and finally uploaded a remastered version on YouTube in 2021 during the Covid 19 outbreak in Thailand. Movie director is เริงศิริ ลิมอักษร. The movie features twelve beautiful romantic songs. Many famous actors and actresses from the 1970s are featured. The movie was elected as Thai National Film Heritage (มรดกภาพยนตร์แห่งชาติ) in 2017. Khomapat Attaya has a small role as guest star. Chai (Pissamai Wilaisak) is a famous singer. She is often seen with her friend Namat (Chosri Misommon), a former singer. Producer Nop (อัศวิน รัตนประชา) is married to Wida, a singer’s producer. Yot (Uten Boonyong) is a songwriter (นักแต่งเพลง). Singer Chaiyong (Settha Sirachaya) is getting famous. Who will be nominated as the singers of the year? Chai hopes to win. Yot forgets his wife Pon's wedding anniversary... Noi (Duangjai Hathaikarn), Chaiyong's wife, requests help from Wida as her husband is having mistresses. She just feels being a concubine (เมียเก็บ). Wida (Mayurachath Muarnprasitivej) asks her to keep this story low profile to avoid damaging Chaiyong's career. Yot loves Chai, but Chai refuses this love as she doesn't want to be a minor wife (เมียน้อย) again and Pon relies on Yot. Yot loved Pon because of her voice only. Chai cannot do such a thing to a friend. Chai was a minor wife to a famous producer before. Nam (Sorapong Chatree) is thinking of leaving his province and to come to Bangkok with his friend. The singers of the year’s results are announced: Chaiyong and Rose (Tharika Thidathip) are winning. Chai is very disappointed not to have won. She keeps drinking alcohol to forget her lack of success and chases Yot away as he tries to console her. Chaiyong and Rose are having an affair. Wida is fully aware, but she does let it go as she is the producer of both singers. Wida is pregnant, so her husband is so happy. The newspapers are aware of the relationship between Chayong and Rose. Nam meets Chai, who is renting a bungalow and resting in his parents' property. He is a big fan and helps her in whatever she needs. Chaiyong breaks up with his wife Noi, despite her begging him. Wida warns Rose not to forget where she comes from, but Rose mentions a big part of Wida's revenues are linked to her! Chai is sick, so Nam takes good care of her. Meanwhile Chaiyong continues to behave badly and meets girls. Rose has arguments with him. The producer Nop also warns Chaiyong. Pon leaves Yot as she knows he is not loving her. While Nop is drunk, Rose has an affair with him to get revenge on Wiyada. Wiyada, being aware, asks for divorce with Nop. Chai heard Nam has a nice voice. Yot visits Chai, but she is happy to be away from the show business system (วงการเพลง). Nop visits Yot in Pattaya as he is heartbroken. Chai wishes to promote Nam as a singer. She has lost her willingness to be a singer again. Yot believes Chai is enamoured (หลงเด็ก) with Nam. Chaiyong is finally fired as he spends too much time on girls and alcohol. The club owner asks Nop and Yot for help as a new singer is needed to attract customers. Yot asks Pon to help and gives her new songs. Pon is not willing to sing and recommends her friend Chai. Yot writes song รักเพื่อเธอ (love for you) for Chai, but Chai wishes Nam to sing it. The couples are back together, i.e. Chaiyong with Noi, Yot with Pon, Nop with Wiyada. Rose gets suicide as she realizes she lost everything and doesn't want to come back to her previous life. Finally, Chai is back as a singer. She has to refuse Nam's love as she is much older than him, so she prefers to leave.
