Angulimala was born into a Brahmin caste, the highest Indian caste. However he was predestined to become a cruel bandit. He was deceived by his jealous teacher who told him he must kill 1,000 people and cut their thumbs off to make a necklace if he wished to attain highest wisdom. When Angulimala met Buddha, he tried in vain to catch and kill him, then Buddha convinced him to become a monk. The director spent three years making the movie with 80 million baht and faced censorship.
