Sor Asanajinda is a famous Thai film director (he has directed more than 70 movies!) and also a famous Thai actor (he has played in more than 80 movies!). He was also a writer and journalist. Following the uprising of October 14 1973, commercial filmmakers like Sor Asanajinda put anti-dictatorship messages in his action movies. He was named a National Artist of Thailand in year 1990. Thai movie ฉลุยหิน คนไข่สุดขอบโลก / Egg man was released in year 1994 and lasts 1h33mn. Movie director is นพดล พรหมบัณฑิตสกุล. The movie happens during prehistoric times. People cannot talk properly so a back off voice is commenting. A group of men is controlling a whole community. They control อำนาจ (power), น้ำ (water), ไฟ (fire), กำลัง (force). Sor Asanajinda is their sorcerer. One young adult, Tong Tong (ต๋องต๋อง), doesn't accept this system. Knowing there is no more water soon, he tries to push the others to rebel versus the sorcerer, but it fails. He is chased from the community. He has difficulty surviving. Tong Tong meets a chubby young man Teng. They become friends. A walking plant keeps following them. Then they meet young lady Tom Tom (จันทร์จิรา จูแจ้ง) and her brother. Tom Tom (จ๋อมจ๋อม) likes Tong Tong. Tong Tong is able to start a fire by using the tricks he saw from the sorcerer. They face dangers such as dinosaur attacks but survive. The three men follow some chubby ladies up to their village, but they are cannibals! They are captured. Tom Tom tries to help them, but to no avail as she is also captured. About to be grilled, a tornado occurs and wipes the cannibal village away. Being separated, they finally find each other. Tong Tong improves his knowledge and language skills thanks to a book. Tom Tom is now pregnant with Tong Tong. Tong Tong brings Tom Tom to a place with a waterfall. Villagers capture Tong Tong and Tom Tom is left for dead. Even the flower is smashed. Tom Tom gets some stones able to make fire and defeat the villagers. Tom Tom becomes the new sorcerer, but he is not willing to abuse his power like Sor was doing.

Somsri, a tour guid, is trying to seduce him but he only has interest in Poo. Meanwhile a photographer, called Teh, is looking for a new model. Somsri asks Teh to take compromising picture of Poo in Wat Po. Finally love quarreling happens as both Pittaya and Teh are fond of Poo. Madam Yeehoob buys a new car to visit her family in the countryside. When playing golf, Pittaya meets a countryside girl called Pla. He mistakes her as Poo as they have same face. Pla and Poo are twins (แฝด). The grandfather took care of Pla while Poo and Madam Yeehoo were in England. Madam Yeehoo wishes to send Pla to Bangkok to teach her modern life. Pla discovers hi-so life when she is invited for diner by Pittaya's father and she commits many funny breaches of etiquette. Meanwhile Poo shall learn countryside life and house chores. Many humorous scenes happen until Pittaya and Teh understood that there are two ladies so no need to be rivals. It is Kumtorn Tubkunlai's second movie based on twins. As usual his wife, Piyamas Monayakol, was playing in this movie.

A couple with 4 children (Lek, Klang, Yai) move to a new but old house that has a long history (บ้านความรัก). The old house (โบราณ) even belongs to some nobility Thai members during last century. Saran (Saranyu Wongkrachang) believes the house talks to him through an old uncle (Sithao Petcharoen) and through some dreams with old images. Some promoters want to buy the house to build a village centre. But Saran doesn't want to sell despite rumours of ghosts (ผี) and strange events. Some burglars looking for old artifacts leave the house in fear having seen a ghost. The father makes restoration work on the house (บ้านเรา). Ruffians are recruited to try any ways to have the family quit and sell the old house. A small children ghost spirit called Sin (ลูกของพระยา) helps to chase robbers away. He is the one displayed on an old picture. Only Lek can see him. His spirit (วิญญาณ) was stored inside the picture. Halloween is shown as a new tradition entering Thailand. Teen children want their father to hire a traditional healer (หมอผี), played by veteran actor Sor Asanajinda, to chase ghosts (บ้านมีผี). The father hesitates. The company offers to buy back the house ten times the initial price. Tension happens between the wife Chit and her husband. The wife believes her son is getting crazy as he is talking alone. Sin considers himself as as another child of Saran. Following Lek's plea, the traditional healer accepts to stop torturing the little ghost and explain to Lek how to use monks in order to release Khun Noi from Rama V period. Finally Noi leaves them in order to rebirth and stability is coming back inside the family. The Little Lord of Siam (ท่านขุนน้อยน้อย แห่งสยาม) was directed by Somdet Suntipracha, who is a member of Thai aristocracy. This movie reminds of other Thai movies such as “Tawipop” (ทวิภพ) or “House of the Peacock” (เรือนมยุรา) by director Cherd Songsri with a focus on protection of traditional disappearing heritage items or values.

After WorldWar 2, Burma got its independance from England but the Karen minority problem was left unsolved. So an independance war between Karen and Burmese started. This movie takes place around Salween river, which the border between Thailand and Burma. Aound this area, there is no law, only guns decide. Different protagonists take part: a policeman acting like a outlaw and wishing to revenge his wife killed a few years ago, a young policeman coming from Bangkok with no experience in such difficult area, a Thai deceitful merchant playing Karen against Burmese in order to have access to rich forests full of teak logs, a Burmese general wishing to destroy the Karen stronghold around Salween river, a Karen captain wishing to defend his stronghold and giving in a wrong alliance with the Thai deceitful merchant. The war between Karen and Burmese is still going on and many people call it the forgotten genocide against the Karen people in Burma.

Sida is a young lady, who is pregnant. Her boyfriend, Thong, dumps her away. Ashamed, she kills herself. She always had issues with her authoritarian grandfather. Her older sister, Sakul, refuses to be dictated by her grandfather. Her husband died already. She has a young three years old boy. She meets Plai, who is a butterfly man. Women are toys for him (ของเล่น). Thong is also a former boyfriend of Sakul and still loves her. Plai is having an affair (เรื่องสนุกสนาน) with Thip, Thong's sister. Thip wants to marry but Plai is not willing. Plai has a high interest in Sakul as she is the first woman not falling to his charm. There are conflicts between Plai and Thong. Sakul needs to use Plai as a false boyfriend in order to stop being followed by Thong. She plays with fire (เล่นกับไฟ) as Plai has still a butterfly reputation. Plai comes to stay in Sakul's home. Thong (บัดซบ!) has raped Sakul before. Sakul's son is in fact his son. Plai's mother doesn't want to hear about Sakul. Twenty years ago it was still an issue for a widowed woman having a child to get a new husband in Thai society. Plai and Sakul announces their wedding to beat back Thong and Thip. The authoritarian grandfather and Thong prepare a nasty plan. Plai goes for a last night with Thip but gets beaten by ruffians commanded by the grandfather. He is almost blind. Sakul brings Plai to Pattaya in order to rest. Thong gets crazy as he doesn't know where Sakul and Plai are hiding. He hits and kills Toei, Sakul's friend, to know where they are. Going back home, Sakul and Plai face Thong. A fight erupts and Thong gets deadly shot.

Tik loves a young man called Mike but Tik's mother doesn't like him. She wants Tik to marry Boonsot, son of her friend. Tik, being drugged on her mother's orders, is raped by Boonsot to force her to become his wife. The wedding day turns to a tragedy. Tik's father has a fatal heart attack. Boonsot is caught by the police a few days later as he is a drug dealer. So Tik's mother decides to become a nun. Tik goes to see Mike again but Mike already has a new girlfriend. The doctor, who previously treated her father, has also interest in Tik. Finally Boonsot, who escapes from prison, saves Tik from the lawyer Khanit, who tried to rape and kill her. Mekhala is a rural young attractive lady living in a old house. Tourists groups are frequently visiting the house to buy local products. Chanachol, urban educated businessman, is visiting the house and there is an immediate match between Mekhala and him. Mekhala is living with Pa, Lung and a little girl. The previous owners of the house and their child drowned but the corpse of the child was never found. Chanachol has the feeling that he already comes before in this old house. Chanachol is already married and have two children. Finally Chanachol has a liaison with Mekhala. A supernatural jaleous cobra is protecting Maekala. The cobra tries to send Chanachol away but Mekhala refuses and protects Chanachol against the snake. Phot, a local resident, also wishes to marry Mekhala but she refuses. The cobra sends him away. Phot comes back to Mekhala's house in order to catch and kill the cobra. He gets bitten and dies. Meanwhile Chanachon's wife realises that her husband has an extra-marital affair. She tries to threathen Mekhala. Still loving strongly Chanachon, Mekhala decides to break with him in order not to wreck his family. Chanachol cannot stand this separation and go back to the old house. On the way back, the cobra makes him fall from the boat and he drowns. It seems that Mekhala's previous suitors ended up dead and a new one is already courting Mekhala...

His wife has an affair and gets pregrant. He expelled her from home. His daughter is having an affair with a young man and he also expelled her from home. The fishing boat is caught in Cambodian seas and he is sent in jail for 6 months. His grandfather get hurt on his back and cannot walk properly anymore. His son is sent to youth jail as he robs metal to buy medicine for his grandfather. Feeling useless, the grandfather gets suicide. When he is back from Cambodia, his family is wracked. This movie depicts life in urban slums of Bangkok with all its suffering and hardship. It was the object of much enthousiasm and praise among foreigners in Thailand and Thai intellectuals. Everyone in the story suffers from an unkind fate. The problems of the whole family stem from its leader only.

Krieng (ชมพู ฟรุตตี้), her younger brother, is shot while trying to protect her. Thugs decide to burn the body to avoid any revenge from the spirit but they have to flee as Sor and Devalee arrive. Krieng, as a ghost, visits her sister. Sopha hires thugs to kidnap Devalee but Krieng spirit stops them. Announcing they are facing a ghost, Sopha agrees to hire master Lor Tok. Lor Tok fails and gets stabbed by Krieng. Devalee refuses to incinerate Krieng's body until he gets his revenge. Devalee and Nat meet Krieng but uncle Sor refuses to believe them. Sor checks the body while all friends are going to the disco. Krieng punches some ruffians. Finally Sor understands that Krieng’s spirit is around! As ruffians wish to get rid of the family and Krieng by burning the house to prevent the spirit from harassing them, Krieng has to intervene and to kill the ruffians by burning them alive. Police suspect uncle Sor. Ruffian's head and Sopha hire a new occult master (หมอผี). They kidnap Devalee to attract Krieng. Nat and his friends succeed to release Devalee. Meanwhile Krieng kills the remaining ruffians and Sopha becomes crazy. Krieng can leave (ลาก่อน) as he has taken his revenge.

This movie is divided into two parts, a first comic part when Thewan, a student, in order to seduce Nuanchan acts like a company owner. But he is only the company owner's car driver! Finally Nuanchan finds out the truth. The second part is more dramatic when Nuanchan decides to become a teacher in a remote Thai village. She succeeds to find money to have a big school built. She even convinces older people to learn how to read to reduce illiteracy. Due to a sudden cancer detection, she has to handover the job to Thewan. She has to leave her job as school teacher to go abroad for treatment so causing despair and cries from the village inhabitants who love her so much. This film highlights the importance of literacy at all ages.

It is about a big company, which wants to expel slum inhabitants in order to build a modern complex. A young teacher called Somsri is representing the slum and is fighting against the company. This movie shows the power of big Thai companies over slums, Thai rich people power over poor people and the Thai useless bureaucracy. Hopefully a Thai official and a lawyer are helping the teacher Somsri as the slum inhabitants are fully in their rights. Unfortunately, the big company doesn't hesitate to use strong ways such a fire, threats and gunmen. The slum finally wins but the lawyer and teacher Somsri lose their life. The movie is based on an activist teacher in the Klong Toei slum area. The idea on which the movie was based is the real life of teacher Pratheep Ungsongtham. She was called the slum angel.

Thai movie ไกรทอง 2 was released in year 1985. It was released under VCD and DVD format by Tiga Company and lasts 1h33mn. The Betamax version lasts 1h49mn. The main difference is longer sequences with a Chinese master (อาจารย์). Main actors and actresses featured in this movie are Sorapong Chatree, Sombat Methanee, Sor Asanajinda, Lor Tok, Lak Apichat, Ampha Pusit, Aranya Namwong, Supansa Nuengpirom, Der Doksadao, Duangcheewan Komolsen. This time Kraithong faces a man, who has also the power to change himself into a fearful crocodile. Thong (Suphansa Nuengpirom) and Kaew (Ampha Nuengpirom) are Kraithong's wives. Wimala (Aranya Namwong) and Malaiwan (Duangcheewan Komolsen), former Chalawan’s wives, are staying in a cave under the river. Sor Asanajinda is a powerful hermit. Sor asks Wimala (แม่นาง) not to disturb humans anymore. Meanwhile a crocodile takes away a baby and his father. The mother goes to Chinese shrine to ask help from a Chinese master (Lor Tok). Der Doksadao and เหี่ยว are playing medium assistants in the Chinese shrine. A funny and long sequence featuring the master showing his surnatural skills towards Der Doksadao is present in the betamax but cut in the VCD version. A government official offers a reward to kill the crocodile. The crocodile continues his rampage and attacks a floating market, humans and even a buffalo. Kraithong visits a master mentioning that crocodile Chalawan is back. The crocodile is in fact half human (Lak Apichat) half spirit (จระเข้ผีสิงห์). Lak agresses Chalawan’s wives in the cave. The Chinese master, despite his supernatural skills, is killed by the crocodile. Some scenes where Lor Tok is featuring his flying skills are cut from VCD but present on the BetaMax. The crocodile then attacks the house where Thong and Kaew are living. After a rampage, Kaew is kidnapped by the crocodile played by Lak Apichat. Wimala wishes to use Lak to take revenge over Kraithong. Chalawan is back per incantations from Sor. He is upset that his wife Wimala replaces him so fast. So Wimala pushes Lak to kill Chalawan. Upset about Kaew, Kraithong heads towards the cave. He faces Lak, already injured by Chalawan, and succeeds to defeat him. Chalawan then defies him again. Following an epic fight, Chalawan is defeated again and Kraithong brings Kaew back.

Lek has been educated in a Thai Buddhist temple. His mother, fed up by the drunkard behavior of her husband, has become a Buddhist nun. Lek is now a teacher. He saves one of his student from drowning. His mother Namphrao thanks him and has interest with Lek but nothing happens between them. Namphrao has to go abroad but continues to send letters to Lek. Finally Lek got married to Lamai, the daughter of a rickshaw driver. His teacher salary is not enough so Lek has to work at night time as a rickshaw driver. He receives praises from the Thai administration for his dedication over children. He even become the rickshaw's president association. Namphrao is back and it causes jealousy from Lamai. Wishing to open a new business, Namphrao withdrews money from the bank but her money is stolen by robbers. Lek helps to retrieve the money but his family is kidnapped by the robbers. Robbers are killed by the Police and Namphrao leaves Thailand to let Lek and Lamai to have happiness.

Sae has a new lover, i.e. the village leader, who keeps borrowing money from her. Sai, one of Sae's daughter, is also his mistress. Luang Ta keeps smoking and delivers sermons in old fashioned way. Novice Sing Chai delivers sermon in a modern way. It makes Luang Ta upset as a novice becomes more popular than him. Even Piathip Kumwong is not visiting Luang Ta anymore but novice Sing Chai to get advice. Sae, knowing that the villager leader and her daughter Sai betrayed her (คนทรยศ), wishes to get suicide. Novice Sing Chai helps her on time and the mother becomes a nun. Young teen girl Chantana is back to the village and invites novice Sing Chai to get alms everyday (รับบาตร). Sing Chai is feeling awkward caught by human feelings toward Chantana. Luang Ta tries to catch him doing improper things (ศึกแน่ๆ). Sing Chai is even accused of committing a murder. Village leader Gneun, father of Chantana, is causing troubles. Luang Ta recognizes he was wrong to try to accuse Sing Chai. Gneun is finally shot by Sai as he was refusing to recognize his paternity. Sing Chai rejects his mother due to bad feeling but recognizes his mistake. He still hopes to convince his father to stop drinking alcohol. On the way to his father's home, a fire occurs. Sing Chai saves his father but the handicapped son is unable to flee. Mother Sae (ยอมแม่) is sick and dies while listening sermon. The father (ยอมพ่อ) becomes a monk also. The movie ends up on Sae's funeral where Sae’s voice in background regrets to have led such a bad life.

Some villagers are hired to catch snakes. A big snake (งูใหญ่) remains to be caught. Chat is one of the villagers. His wife is about to deliver. During a storm, Chat is killed by a huge snake and the baby girl is possessed by a snake. The little girl renamed Boonmee is rescued by a family, who also has a baby girl called Kamfa (Naowarat Yooktanun). They are now grown up beautiful women. Boonmee (Pornpan Ketmamatsu) always think her parents love Kamfa more than her. It is Songkran day. Some Bangkokian people, undercover policeman Cha (Toon Hiransap) and professor Phalat (Sor Asanajinda), come to the village. Young and old people often die in the village so they come to investigative. Nobody knows the real death cause. Some bodies are kept in Wat Khun Duang. Songkran is celebrated there so Cha meets Kamfa and Boonmee. Brother (พี่) Inta is jealous. Both ladies like Cha very much. The temple coffins only contain snakes but no corpses. Villagers afraid of the evil (งูผี). In order to get rid of the evil spirit, there is a need to identify in which body the spirit has taken refuge in. Boonmee brings jealousy in Ita's heart versus Cha. The subdistrict headman's daughter is bitten by a snake. Cha goes to city to bring back a real doctor as he doesn't trust the local shaman (หมอผี). Boonmee (นางปีศาจ) causes the spirit to possess Kamfa and to kill the subdistrict headman's daughter. Villagers now believe Kamfa is the evil spirit (งูผีร้าย). Boonmee kills her own father to prevent him to help Kamfa. Kamfa is captured and will be burnt (เผ่า) in front of the subdistrict headman's house. Cha comes on time but Inta and villagers prevent him to help. Cha and Kamfa shall die on a real stake. A forest monk (พระธุดงค์) stops the fire and announces Kamfa is not the evil spirit that villagers are looking for. The monk asks Kamfa to put a sacred necklace around Boonmee's neck to neutralize the spirit. Kamfa is concerned that her mother shall not stand losing her husband and then one daughter. Boonmee apologizes to her sister and promises not to kill anyone again. The old sorcerer spirit has to bite villagers and drink their blood to remain young. Boonmee seduces and hypnotizes Cha. Kamfa and Phalat have to find a way to release Cha. Boonmee captures her own sister to give her for sacrifice to the snake spirit showing no gratitude to her mother. At nighttime the mother sneaks in the cave and sends on time the sacred necklace on the spirit’s head breaking all spells. Evil is defeated and the cave is sealed. It is a remake of 1966 Thai movie “งูผี” with Mitr Chaibancha and Petchara Chaowarat. Compared to 1966 version, Boonmee is much more temptress and is helped by a bunch of sexy amazones. Modern disco and even James Bond soundtrack are used. It is a typical horror movie from 1970-1980s mixing scaring and funny sequences. A second opus of นางพญางูผี was released in 1990 with Bin Banleurit.

In Nan province, animist forest people (คนป่า) are discovered. They are called "Phi Tong Leuang" (ผีตองเหลือง) or Mlabri ethnic group. They do not possess anything and share everything within the group. They are exploited by Bangkokian people to cut trees in forest. They stop to cut trees because deities (ผีฟ้า) are angry. A professor sends a group of students including a young lady called Doktawan to study and to catch a "Phi Tong Leuang" in the forest. In Ta Wa Dung village, people from Chinese origins are living. They are far from civilization and are friend of the Mlabri ethnic group. Cheng is a young man living in Ta Wa Dung village. The students mistakes Cheng as a Mlabri ethnic group member and catches him. Cheng is same as French Asterix and his magic potion. Cheng gets high strength when getting exposed to sun. As he wishes to visit Bangkok, he lets himself captured. There, he is exposed like an animal in a cage. Doktawan educates him to modern world (radio, music, dance). A romance happens between Cheng and Doktawan. The illegal logging company sends ruffians to get rid of Cheng so he has to flee. Police catches him and sends him to hospital for crazy people as he is walking half naked. Meanwhile Cheng's parents are worried and decide to go to Bangkok to search for him. They arrive in Bangkok with elephants and horses to look for him! Finally Cheng is reunited with his family but it is discovered that he is not a Mlabri so he needs to help Doktawan to find real Mlabri ethnic group members. Meanwhile the illegal logging company wants to kill all Mlabri people to be able to exploit the forest. Gun fight happens in famous Earth Pillars site at Sao Din. Police arrives on time to rescue the students and Mlabri. This is a typical Thai comedy from the 1980s decade with a "katoey" (กะเทย) in the funny and silly role, gags from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Gods Must Be Crazy" (1981). There is very bad taste as the illegal logging company ruffians often carry a nazi flag to emphasize their badness. In 2009 the operator of a waxworks museum in Pattaya has been forced to cover up a giant billboard of Adolf Hitler giving a Nazi salute after complaints. This movie includes first introduction of hidden advertisement with beer brand name promotion.

She has two children i.e. Oi (Lak Apichat) and Pae (Apaporn Kornthip). Neun is going to temple fair with Pae. See wishes her daughter Pae to marry Boo (Boo Wibunnan), a rich but old bachelor. The two families are always in conflict so a wedding between Neun and Pae is a challenge to happen. Sor Asanajinda and Malee Wetpraseri visit relatives with their daughter Kaet (Anchalee Chaisiri). Kaet (นางฟ้า) shall stay in countryside a few months as she is pregnant... Pae is also pregnant with Neun. Father Nio refuses to pay the dowry (สินสอด). See asks for 10,000 THB. Nio only offers 1 baht! Finally, Yui steals 5,000 THB from her husband. Oi steals 5,000 THB from his mother See. So, wedding can happen. But due to Nio and See conflicting, it fails and both Neun and Pae are chased away from their families as they stole money from their parents. Thanks to a recommendation, Neun finds a job by working for Pipop Pupinyo. Kaet goes back for Bangkok and leaves the child behind. As there is a need for money to pay for house windows, Neun asks Pipop for money advance. His wife agrees but she asks for endearment from Neun. Pipop comes back home and fighting occurs with Neun. The wife tries to interpose and gets stabbed by accident. Pipop accuses Neun of having murdered his wife. Neun must flee. Pae and Neun's child is born. Krai (Krai Kanchit) and Pipop commit burglary and murders under the name of Neun. See, Pae's mother, is indebted by playing cards. See and Oi arrange a wedding with Boo. They lie that Neun has a new wife to convince Pae. It makes Neun upset. Wittaya Sukdamrong recommends him to calm down. Neun needs to flee police called by Oi. Neun takes refuge in Bangkok in Kaet's family as a car driver. Kaet's husband, Anoon (อนันต์ สัมมาทรัพย์), has another wife so Kaet is heartbroken and Sor recommends her to build a new life (ตั้งต้นไม้). Oi sympathises with Kaet's husband being a teacher. หมอเสน่ห์ is hired by Pae's family so Boo fires them. A romance between Kaet and Neun happens. Grandma Malee doesn't accept it. Nio is killed by Krai following an external affair. Yui's house is burgled. Neun arrives too late but hopefully Nio's money was well hidden. Neun meets Pipop and Krai fleeing after the robbery. They finally shoot each other unable to share the money. Yui, Neun's mother, sends a parade to ask for Kaet's hand. Neun gives 100,000 THB as promised for Kaet's hand and builds a big house on the land given by Sor. During a drinking session, Anoon discloses to Oi, that Neun is a stupid countryside man as he is marrying Kaet while both of her children are from himself! Despite having university diploma, Anoon behaves badly and the diploma has no value (กระดาษชำระ) as it didn't teach him to behave correctly in life. Informed by Oi, Neun keeps drinking and meets Pae, working in a club as partner. Pae ended up as Prostitute (กะหรี่) and lost her childcare. Anoon even receives 100,000 THB from Sor to keep quiet. Anoon gets beaten by Neun but is only worried about the money. Upset that Kaet lied to him (หลอกลวงเขา), Neun burns the new house (ไฟไหม้เรือนหอ) and surrenders to the Thai Police. Before being arrested, Neun asks Kaet to give money to Pae every month so that she can stop working and take care about their child. This movie highlights poor people versus rich people. Poor people have better heart than rich people.

Thai movie พยัคฆ์ยี่เก was released in year 1983 and last 1h50mn. It was released under VHS format. A Hong Kong version, also released under VHS format, lasts 1h30mn. The movie is directed by Kom Akadej. Two Hong Kong actors are featured, i.e. David Chiang and Norman Chu. On the movie poster released in Hong Kong, they are of course shown preeminently. A Likay (Thai folk traditional theater) troupe led by teacher Pong (ครู) (Sor Asanajinda) performs in Sukhothai. The main Likay actor is played by Tuan Tong (Sorapong Chatree) and gets a lot of flowers offered especially by ladies including Piathip Kumwong, wife of the village leader (ผู้ใหญ่). It makes the village leader (Manop Aussawathep) to be very upset so he storms the Likay theater with his ruffians (Pipop Pupinyo, Panna Rittikrai and Somsak Chaisongkram) to fight with Tuan Tong as he cannot accept that his wife (แม่ตัวดี) spends money on a Likay handsome actor. Both end up at the police station but the police head (Kom Akadej) finally releases Tuan Tong as he did nothing wrong. Back to the Likay theater, Tuan Tong is beaten by ruffians. A local doctor, called Thongdee, always gives free health care to the Likay troupe. Chased again by the ruffians, Tuan Tong and Note Chernyim have to steal David Chiang's jeep to flee. David Chiang, Suriwan Suriyong and Supakorn Srisawat (ดี๋ ดอกมะดัน) are brothers and sisters. Getting back his jeep, David meets Chompoo, Tuan Tong's sister, (ชลิดา เสาวดี) so he even learns Likay skills as he is enamoured. Suriwan is expert in deltaplane. A jewellery money exchange turns badly between Manop and Sothon (โสธร รุ่งเรือง). Sothon is shot by Chat Mongkolchai but he succeeds to flee. He hides the jewellery inside the Likay theater. David is also looking for Sothon so it creates a misunderstanding between Tuan Tong and David. Sothon is killed by ruffians using a deltaplane shooting harpoons but they are still looking for the missed jewellery. They burnt the Likay theater as retaliation. Teacher Pong sells one diamond to rebuild the theater. He has hidden the real jewellery through the fake jewels used in Likay costumes. As Chat failed to capture Pong and is even shot by David, he is replaced by โดม สิงโมฬี. Ruffians storm the Likay theater again during a performance. Teacher Pong is shot by the ruffians with harpoons and killed. Chompoo is captured as she is wearing half of the real jewellery. The ruffians are led by Norman Chu, doctor Thongdee (ชาลี อินทรวิจิตร) and Rith Luecha. David and others Likay male actors (Note Chernyim...) are also captured. Tuan Tong and Suriwan storm the campment. Multiple fightings and shootings happen. Most of the protagonists die except Tuan Tong, Suriwan and his sister.

Thai movie สะใภ้ลูกทุ่ง was released in year 1982 and lasts 1h48mn. It was released under VCD format by Lepso and Happy Time companies. Movie director is ดริน ดารากร. Mui (Naowarat Yooktanun) and Khaem (Mayura Thanabutr) are sisters and have arguments with their mother Malee (Malee Wetpraseri). It seems that Malee is preparing an arranged wedding with a Bangkokian young man. It could be Ati (Toon Hiransap) or At (ยิ่งใหญ่ อายะนันท์), a gay man. Mui is upset with Bangkok people, who denigrate (ดูถูก) countryside people. To get the 100 000 baht from Malee, At accepts to marry Khaem but there is no love. The mother uses Khaem as her slave. At prepares to divorce by claiming Khaem has an affair with doctor Chok. Chok acknowledges due to the debt he owes to Ati. Mui, being doctor student with Chok, is upset by his behavior and discloses to the whole family that it is only a lie as Chok and At are gays. Sor has died so Mui and Khaem go back to Ubon. This movie is based on the folklore story "Khun Chang Khun Paen" (ขุนช้างขุนแผน) but only on a limited part of the whole story. During Ayutthaya period, a middle age man, Master Taen (อาจารย์เถร), has strong magic knowledge (วิชา) so can seduce women through spells and can transform himself into a ferocious crocodile. His young apprentice (ลูกศิษย์) can also become a fierce crocodile. Young ladies Simala and Soifa are the wives of noble Phra Phi but Phra Phi spends all nights with Simala. Soifa becomes very jaleous and asks Master Taen to help her. Master Taen uses black magic incantations. Simala and Phra Phi get tortured like voodoo puppets. Due to incantations (พิธี), Simala gets a defigured face so that Phra Phi goes back to Soifa. Phra Chumpoon, Phra Phi's brother, tries to defend Simila. Soifa asks Master Taen for a love filter to force Simala having an affair with Phra Chumpoon so that she can be repudiated by Phra Phi. Nothing happens but Phra Phi nevertheless chases her. Phra Chumpoon asks for his father's help. The father, Paen, sees that his son is under spell influence. Soifa starts to panic. The king orders to arrest Master Taen but Master Taen and his apprentice become crocodiles to kill the soldiers. A reward is offered to catch the crocodiles. Paen searches for evidence such as wax effigy inside the bedroom. But nothing found as Soifa hides it well but Paen succeeds to find it and breaks the spell (พิธีแก้) for Simala. Master Taen sends an evil spirit to fight Paen but Paen's baby spirit (กุมารทอง) helps him. Master Taen is arrested by Phra Chumpoon. He refuses to break the spell for Phra Pi. Simala and Soifa need to show their purity (บริสุทธิ์) by walking without pain on hot charcoal. Soifa fails (ความดีต้องชนะความชั่ว) and is chased in Northern Thailand. The two crocodiles continue their rampage until they are stopped by Paen and Phra Chumpoon. Master Taen is defeated and killed by Phra Chumpoon. Characters are similar to traditional theatre "Like" (ลิเก), i.e. the leading actor (พระเอก), the leading actress (นางเอก), the jealous girl (นางเอก), the funny and hilarious supportive maids (ตัวตลก). This is another movie from famous Chaiyo productions and produced by Sompote Sangduenchai. This is the fourth movie including crocodiles killing human again. The previous movies were Crocodile (จระเข้ - 1980), Kraithong (ไกรทอง - 1980), Kraithong 2 (ไกรทอง 2 - 1985). As often with Sompote productions, it includes light salacious content, humorous dialogues and kitsch Fx (Yak flying).

Following a promise done by his father 20 years ago, Ekarat has to marry Yee hoop, a young lady educated in old style. Ekala's mother doesn't want his son to marry a bumpy country side girl. Yee Hoop's parents leave her in Ekarat's parents home so she can get used to urban life. She gets introduced to the family. Only Ekarat's younger brother, who is a katoey, is supporting her to learn things about modern life. She does many hilarious mistakes. Is she really a bumpy girl or is she simulating? Ekarat is first puzzled then seduced by Yee Hoop. Finally following his mother disapproval, he marries her in country side. When Yee Hoop goes back to Ekarat's mother home, she is subject to bad tricks, bad jokes from the mother relatives. One girl who always wanted to marry Ekarat for his money, even engages a hitman to get rid of Yee Hoop. Everything is finally settled but Yee Hoop flees to England believing that Ekarat is involved. A new teacher (ครูใหม่) called Sirin (Jarunee Sooksawad) is recruited. She notices that two students always arrive late. One is a boy called Satit coming from a rich family (ลูกเศรษฐี). One is a girl called Kalaya coming from a slum family (สลัม). The movie highlights the importance to study for teens but also the importance for teachers to keep interest from their students (รักเรียน). This school has a strict director and strict teachers keeping the same program and activities without changes over years. Sirin tries to change this mindset. In Thai schools students show respect to their teachers in the mornign and evening (ไหว้ครู) and get hit with a stick (ลงโทษ) when they fail to obey to the school rules. Sirin faces opposition from the teacher head when she wishes to punish Satit for his bad behavior. Only the poor child Boonmee gets punished. Sirin wants to have same treatment for all children either rich or poor. A fight happens between Satit and Boonmee. Satit's elder brother, called Narit, comes to complain about the new teacher at the shool. He trusts Satit and doesn't know he is behaving badly. Kalaya has no time to study. Every early morning she has to deliver newspapers. Her father is always drunk and hit his wife. Kalaya is too ashamed to say why she is late everyday. Teachers decide to buy a bicycle for her so she doesn't have to run in the morning (same as movie Walli - วัลลี). Satit keeps stealing things. This time he steals teacher belongings and accuses Boomee. Hopefully Sirin is aware of the stratagem but Narit refuses to believe that his younger brother has problems as he is coming from a rich family. Money doesn't buy happiness... Kalaya didn't come to school since many days as her father sold the bicycle to buy alcohol. She now works in a construction site. Students decide to share the workload regarding newspapers distribution so that she can be on time in school. Following a brawl, Satit is sent to Police station. Teacher Sirin confirm (รับรอง) her students integrity so that they can be released. The school is going to take part in sport competition with other schools. They have big hope in cycling with Kalaya and Thai boxing with Boonmee. Poor children train hard while rich children just enjoy beach. Sirin sees Satit stealing the director's ring. She prevents the robbing but gets injured as Satit pushes her violently. The director doesn't believe Satit could be a robber. Losing trust in her director, Sirin resigns. Students refuse to study until Sirin is back. Finally Satit tells the truth to his brother. This one asks the director to recruit back Sirin. Sirin refuses to acknowledge the director's requests but accepts when students implore her. Competition starts. The school wins in boxing and cycling. Satit becomes a good boy. Despite strange cuts in the editing, this movie is full of good feelings, i.e. school importance, teacher dedication, studies, rich and poor society opposition...

A theater (โรงละคร) employing veteran actors is closing. One of the main actress, Valla, finds herself out of job. Uncle Pongpat (Sor Asanajinda), one of his fan, asks Walla (วัลลา) for wedding. Valla (Pissamai Wilaisak) has already two young children, i.e. Viraya (วีรยา) (Jarunee Sooksawad) and Chat. Pongpat has also two young children already, i.e. Tor (Sorapong Chatree) and Athon (อาทร). Valla was an actress (เล่นลาคร) so Athon always underestimated Viraya and Chat. They never got along. Children have now grown up. Athon has studied overseas and developed a passion for painting. Back to Thailand, he meets a young lady and loves her immediately. He is not aware that she is Viraya! He keeps chasing her. In fact Athon and Tor love the same woman, Viraya. Ton has its own gallery and insists to make a painting (เขียนภาพ) of Viraya. Tor is not aware who Athon is now painting. Busamalee (บุษมาลี) (Thitima Sangkapitak) is another lady fond of Athon also. Athon now believes Tor and Viraya are already sweethearts (คู่รัก) so he wishes to go back studying abroad as soon as possible. Busamalee is disappointed when realizing Athon doesn't love her. Ton is now aware that Viraya is Valla's daughter. Athon has often craziness crisis. So Athon is violent with Viraya believing she lied to him on purpose. He rapes her in his painting gallery. Busamalee also goes to study abroad. Viraya tries to get suicide. Tor suspects a man behind but Viraya refuses to tell who by refusing to disclose what is deep buried in her heart (กำแพงหัวใจ). To avoid any further suicide tentatives, Tor decides to marry Viraya as soon as possible. Tor discovers Viraya's portrait in Athon's room so now understands the truth. Pongpat has a heart attack when learning this and dies. Athon becomes the new house owner. Viraya delivers a boy but the child dies during the delivery. Tor asks Viraya to forget the past but she cannot. Athon is back from overseas with Busumalee. They are engaged. The painting gets an award so Busumalee knows something has happened between Athon and Viraya. She is upset and spent the night out. She spends the night with Chat, Viraya's brother, who revenges her sister by sleeping with Athon’s fiancee. Viraya and Athon finally meet. Athon tries to abuse Viraya again, claiming he always loved her, but she fights back successfully. She can now really forget Athon and enjoy happiness with Tor. The movie กำแพงหัวใจ is Yuranan PamornMontri’s first movie.

Siem brings Nit to Bangkok to his father's home. Following surgery, Siem (Kraison) remembers Suwalee but forgets Nit. As Nit sees Marasee having an affair with another man, Nit is accused of stealing jewellery and leaves their home. Luckily she succeeds to become a movie star. Real old standalone theaters are shown with huge real billboards of Jarunee Sooksawad (โรงเพชรรามา - Pratunam, โรงเมโทร - Ratchathewi, โรงหนังแกรนด์ - Wang Uurapha). She even wins a Thai oscar award. Disappointed by Siem and despite fame, Nit wishes to go back to her island. Cheut, looking for Nit, punches Siem, who then recovers his memory. He rushes to the island to find Nit. They finally reconcile. Cheut ends up with Suwalee.

Tuan (Toon Hiransap) is going to the village to bring improvements. He meets Rose as her car splashes him with mud. As her car refuses to start anymore, he forces her to apologize before bringing her by bicycle to the village. Tieng (Sor Asanajinda) is the village leader and father of Tuan. Krong is winning by far as he is more popular. There is a new bailiff (ปลัดอำเภอ) nominated in the area. It is Tuan! Through a good speech, he reminds villagers that he, as a civil servant, is here to serve them and not the opposite! Rose goes back to her home with Tuan. The mother is upset as he keeps singing. On the next day, Jongsak comes to flirt with Rose, but Tuan exits his room wearing a bailiff uniform. Tuan apologizes to the mother and discloses his real identity. The mother is now delighted that her daughter marries Tuan.

This movie รุ้งเพชร was shot in 1980. A first version of this story was released in 1961 with Sombat Methanee and Ratanaporn Intarakamhaeng. The main actress is Thai singer Nanthida Kaewbuasai, who sings the famous song “มารักกันใหม่” during the movie. Despite being a grown up teen, Rung (Nanthida Kaewbuasai) still likes children games such as riding buffalo, swimming in river, throwing rock with a sling. She is the leader of small group of friends. Her mother hates Bangkok and doesn't want her daughter to study there. But her mother is sick as she has a severe pain in the stomach. She refuses to leave her home. Rung’s father died 10 years ago. The mother finally dies and Rung has to go to Bangkok to a mysterious uncle Phra's home. Her mother always recalled Rung that only uncle Phra helped her when her husband died. Uncle Phra is part of Bangkok rich society (ผู้ดี). Uncle Phra is married to Orapin. Orapin is much younger than uncle Pha and has a lover, who is bankrupted. Orapin is not very happy to see Rung arriving in their home and doesn’t understand why Phra wants to take care about this orphan (เด็กกำพร้า). She suspects than Rung is Phra’s daughter from a minor wife in Ayuthaya. Anong is Orapin’s elder sister. Yai is uncle Phra's son. He behaves like a high society man. Yai has already a fiance. Her name is Nit and she is the second daughter of Anong. They don't get along with Rung. Yai has just finished his studies and needs to be temporary teacher for Rung per his father's request. Rung always speaks frankly (เด็กบ้านนอก). Nit and Yai consider themselves as brother - sister (พี่น้อง) but Anong has other plans in mind and wants to get them married as Yai is very rich. Orapin and Anong are worried about Rung taking a part of the heritage as Uncle Phra is getting older. Rung is doing her studies at UAU. Yai is going abroad. Beautiful young woman Kaki (กากี) is created from a magnolia flower by an hermit (ฤาษี) for the old King Prommathat (ท้าวพรหมฑัต). So Kaki becomes the beautiful wife of King Prommathat. One of the King‘s musician, Than (คนธรรพ์) (Sorapong Chatree), loves Kaki and composes songs to ease her heart. King Garuda (พญาครุฑ) comes down from his celestial residence to gamble with the King Prommathat in a dice game. King Garuda sees the beautiful Kaki and loves her immediately. King Garuda and Than love Kaki. Following a battle between Than and King Garuda, Kaki is kidnapped by King Garuda. King Garuda is a supernatural half-bird half-man creature living in a world different from the human beings world. Both the King Prommathat and the musician Than are sad. King Garuda visits again King Prommathat’s palace believing nobody knows he kidnapped Kaki. King Garuda is demystified by the musician Than. Following a poetry wording fight, King Garuda is defeated. The deity needs to send Kaki back to the human world. The King Prommathat is shocked to learn that Than and Kaki love each other. Kaki is sentenced to harsh punishment. Now becoming a TV serie star, her career is endangered by rumours about her father. Forced to appear on the stage, Pon insults and dishonors himself to avoid that his daughter career is damaged. Will Yuwadee reject her father? Yuwadee character is played by actress and singer Nanthida Kaewbuasai. A few songs are featured in the movie. Thai cinema often uses young actors and make them look older instead of using real veteran actors. This movie highlights the strong bonds between a father and his child. A first version of this movie was directed by Sor Asanajinda in 1957. Sor Asanajinda is playing Yen’s father in this 1980 version! Ratanaporn Intarakamhaeng, who played as leading actress in the 1957 version, is also playing in the 1980 version.

In Northern Thailand, a district officer is shot in the back. He was fighting against illegal trees cut. It is the fourth officer killed on duty in five years. A new one (Sombat Methanee) is nominated. The new district officer understands very fast that a latent corruption happens and that local people (ชาวป่า) are expected to give gifts (chickens, daughter given as maid as a compensation of non paid debts...). The new district officer's adjoint is called Palat and is played by Suchao Pongwilai again with brio in the role of rogue officer. Sor Asanajinda plays the role of a brusque villager complaining indirectly regarding rampant corruption. His son Pol (Sorapong Chatree) is also very active. The minister who sent the district officer has problems with his own daughter, Nit (Jarunee Sooksawad), due to misunderstanding with his new wife. She leaves for the same village Daran Thong and becomes the local teacher. Nit has also medicine knowledge and has to face local fear of ghosts and sorcerer (หมอผี). Old people prefer using sorcerer instead of modern pills. Thanks to Nit and with Pol's leadership, the farmers ask for higher prices and debts resettlement to the trader. Local trader tries to corrupt the district officer but fails to do so. The corrupted subdistrict headman (กำนัน) and trader start to be very upset. They try to buy land as they know that a road will be built to the village but Pol asks villagers to refuse to sell. The subdistrict headman daughter Sophit is back from studying abroad. Palat is secretly fond of her. A young lady called Bukham is raped and killed by Palat. Palat accuses Pol with false proofs. Pol flees and discovers that many trees are cut illegally. Nobody speaks due to fear. The new district officer asks Pol to surrender if he is innocent. Pol's father is found hanged as he spoke too much (พูดประชด - พูดมาก) against corrupted officers. The adjoint uses local people to build the road at a cheaper price. Nit brings the villagers to the province officer to ask for full payments and she wins. Meanwhile Palat rapes the subdistrict headman daughter Sophit and strangles her. Pol's brother sees it and warns his brother. Sabin and Nit get attacked. Sabin is captured but Nit can flee. Nit and Pol come to help Sabin and bring Sophit's dead body to the subdistrict headman. This one wishes to kill Palat as revenge but gets shot before. Finally Palat gets smashed by a log in the illegal logging factory and the district officer helps to catch all ruffians. A school and hospital shall be built by the previous corrupting trader. The movie finishes happily, Nit is named school director (ครูใหญ่ใหม่), Pol is named new subdistrict headman (กำนันใหม่). This movie with social and meaningful messages also involves comedy and romance and not only pure drama. A new generation of government officials is here to replace the previous corrupted generation.

ChatriChalerm Yukol portrays environmental problems in this movie about the sea overexploitation in South of Thailand. Sam is a young fisherman living with an old man. Sam has a lazy girlfriend called Boonta. The old man has also adopted a young girl, Dookmai, 10 years ago when her parents died in a forceful storm over the sea. Such forceful storm accompanied with a yellowing sky is called อุกาฟ้าเหลือง. The old man lives in harmony with the sea and blames fishermen who uses grenades to catch fish. These grenades kill many fishes and destroy the coral, which hosts fishes. Once the coral is dead, fishes disappear. It is an easy way to get immediately many fishes but without thinking about the future impacts. It is forbidden by law but a local politician with the fishermen boss is preventing any changes. Boonta wants a better life and convinces Sam to leave the old man in order to work with other fishermen and earn more money. Sam is working hard on a big drifter with huge nets that catch big, small fishes and even species that are not edible. if fishermen catch small fishes, those small fishes can never grow and reproduce them-selves. The old man successfully succeeds to have the sea police to capture a fishboat using grenades to catch fishes. One fisherman group leader promises to get his revenge. Meanwhile the local politician and the fishermen boss have arguments. The local politician hires a hitman to kill him. The hitman knows Boonta since her youth. Boonta is seduced by the man as he is offering to her an opportunity to leave the South and go to Bangkok. They become lovers. The fishermen boss is killed but before his death tells everything to Sam. Sam repeats to Boonta, who then tells her lover, the hitman. Following a tragic chase in the mangrove, the hitman kills her and decides to get rid of Sam also. Followed by the hitman and the fisherman group leader, Sam, who is injured, take refuges in the old man's house. The old man, knowing that another forceful storm is coming, goes to face the hitman in order to slow him down. He dies but both the hitman and the fisherman group leader disappear within the sea due to forceful storm. Those who hurted the sea have been punished by the sea. It is certainly Sor Asanajinda's best role ever as an old fisherman respecting the sea.

Bua is upset with Leu as he is poor and lost his mother's heritage by gambling. Oon tries to reignite his love (ย้อนรัก) with Pheuan, who is now considering fleeing from Leu. Pheuan has pity on Leu (ข้าวเปล่าอร่อยดี) and her son so she keeps crying. While Leu is busy repairing the roof, Oon forces her to come as she is still undecided until the last minute. Wedding is happening soon. Oon is worried that Leu will bring a mess and wants to avoid a bloody celebration (ฉลองกับเลือด). Likay is organized. Leu brings his son to Phan and promises to get revenge up to Bangkok as he suffered a lot. Meanwhile Leu hears about the forthcoming wedding. He finally escapes with Pheuan but ruffians are chasing them. He gets injured through a fight versus too many opponents. Talui diverts their attention thanks to firecrackers and helps him to flee. Oon prevents the village headman to use a gun to shoot Leu. The village headman is upset having his men injured so they are looking after Leu. Talui helps Leu same as a father towards a son. Phan takes care of Leu and his son while Leu is sick. Leu understands Phan would have been a better wife than Pheuan. Meanwhile Talui prepares some tricks against the ruffians. The movie ends tragically. Loi, Pheuan and Phan’s brother, and Talui die while protecting Leu’s house. Even their mother die also. Oon, recognizing his mistake, accepts to give back Pheuan but Leu refuses. He realises too late that Talui is his real father. Having nothing left, he finally quits the area with Phan.

Da fight against Wang (Pipop Pupinyo) regarding a lady. Tong is back to countryside to meet his parents Sor Asanajinda, Somjit Sapsamruey and his sister Prang. He meets Song (Naowarat Yooktanun), daughter of local mafia leader (เจ้าพ่อ) Boonleut. Boonleut wishes to get their land. Yord (Manop Aussawathep) is used as ruffian to force them. Yot (จีรศักดิ์ ปิ่นสุวรรณ) is another tough guy working for Boonleut. Sri Thong has become Yot's wife but she still loves Tong as she was forced by Yot. Today is Naowarat's birthday party. Upset that Sri Thong told the truth to Tong, Yot decides to send her working to a brothel (เข้าซ่อง). Sri Tong hangs herself following multiple rapes by Yot's men. While Tong is guarding Sri Thong's body, Boonleut, Yot and his men storm Tong's home, killing his parents and raping Prang. Tong kills two men and is now aware that Boonleut, Yot and Yord are behind. Police cannot help. Tong refuses to incinerate his parents' bodies until he has done justice himself. Prang, following shame and her parents' death, also hangs herself. Tong's life is in havoc. Tong wishes to revenge. He storms the ruffians' place and axes many of them. He then chases Yord by car and speed boat but Boonleut and his men embuscade him. Tong escapes death as police arrives at the right time. Tong flees from hospital and takes refuge in North of Thailand in Da's home. Da, Tong and Witoon are back with war weapons. They storm the ruffians' home and perform a rampage. Yot is hanged by Tong. Tong loses sanity as he shoots unarmed members of Boonleut. Yord is also killed and Song, Boonleut’s daughter, is captured. Tong behaves badly with Song (เหมือนคนบ้า, สัตว์นรก, ไม่ใช่คน) but finally recognizes he is wrong as she is not responsible of her father’s behavior. Song understands Tong and flees with him. Romance start between Tong and Song. Meanwhile police is chasing them as Boonleut believes Tong forces his daughter to follow him. About to be captured by Police, Thong asks Song to shoot him as he doesn’t want to end up all his life in jail. Song follows him… เลือดทมิฬ is a powerful and violent movie.

Ruffians block the road in the mountains of Northern Thailand. A man called Thep is driving around. They rob Thep, steal his car and shoots him twice. A bus of tourists stops but finally nobody helps. Father Tao (Sor Asanajinda) and his son Suey carry the injured driver, named Thep, a Bangkokian man. Another car stops and doesn't help either. The Karen village has no car. The closest doctor is 50 kilometers away. Other villagers don't want to help. So Suey is going. Thep is upset as it will take long time to get a doctor. Other refuse to help as Thep is a stranger. Kila, Tao’s daughter, also a Christian, helps. Hard journey for Suey, who is running barefoot through the mountains to get doctor's help. Poor villagers help but rich people don't help. Thep becomes nasty with Kila due to suffering. Thanks to Suey, a doctor arrives on time. Suey gives his blood also. There is no recognition from Thep (ใจดำ). One of the villagers, Bookay, bring jealousy in Suey’s heart as the daughter Kila needs to act as a nurse close to Thep. The injured man Thep wishes to stay in the village as people have good heart (นัำใจดี). The doctor gives him a bible. Party is organised. Songs are performed. Romance starts between Thep and Kila. Suey is heart broken. Somebody releases an elephant in order to injure them. Hopefully Tao can help on time thanks to Suey warning him. Suey blames Bookay (โฉมฉาย ฉัตรวิไล) to have released the elephant. Suey helps a third time. Bookay blames him for keeping helping despite he is losing Kila (เสียคนรัก). Suey helps without hoping to get anything in return as it is part of his religion fundamentals (เมตตา) and faith in god (พระองค์). Bookay recognises her mistake (ความอิจฉา). Thep decides to stay in the village and changes his religion (ชีวิตใหม่). Thep steps back to let Suey and Kila love blossom. He finally goes back to Bangkok.

The DVD was released by Happy Home Entertainment in year 2014. Aunt Sarinthip Siriwan is taking care of her nephew Rien (Nantana Ngao Krajang), whose beauty impresses many men. She is just 16 years old and is the daughter of subdistrict headman Kecha (Kecha Plianvithee). น้อง Kuay (Duangcheewan Komolsen) likes Faeng but he prefers Rien. Sor (Sor Asanajinda) is the Faeng’s father. Taming (Dam Datsakorn) is a robber. Sayan Chantaraviboon and Lak Apichat are part of his team. Sawin Sawangrat is the village leader (ผู้ใหญ่). Today is an important day to perform good deeds at the Buddhist temple (ทำบุญที่วัด). Chan (Somphob Benjatikul) tries to seduce Krajang. Festival, dances, songs, fireworks do happen after the religious ceremony. Faeng wins a small contest similar to rocket festival (ประเพณีบุญบั้งไฟ) versus Chan. Faeng (Sorapong Chatree) loves Rien so it generates jealousy from other men in the village. While trying to kiss Rien, Faeng is injured by her to the arm by her spade (ไม่เสียหาย). During the night Taming robs some houses. Faeng is summoned to subdistrict headman's house. Faeng is accused to have joined Taming the night before to rob houses. Faeng has an injury at the arm so he must be culprit. Rien admits she was the one to injure Faeng (เรื่องปล้นหรือเรื่องปล้ำ) because he tried to kiss her. Kecha loses face in front of the villagers! Disappointed, Kuay enters in Faeng's room. He pities her and tells an old secret story about the village leader being the one robbing houses before. They almost become lovers but Faeng asks her to go back. Chan declares his love to Rien but she is not interested. He wishes to ask her hand to her father. Rien and Faeng love each other but the subdistrict headman forbids Faeng to meet his daughter again. The father shall bring her away on the next day. Faeng and Rien become lovers (รักเหมือนโจร). Taming promises to help. Faeng's father is found dead. Faeng storms the subdistrict headman's place as he believes he knows who is behind the murder. Fightings occurs and the village leader is killed. Faeng learns where Chan and Rien are heading. Love circumstances towards Rien push Faeng to become a ruffian. Fierce fightings happen when Taming, Faeng and the ruffians storm the convoy led by Chan. Faeng defeats Chan but Rien dies following her injuries caused by the cart (เกวียน) falling on her.

Thai movie ชาติผยอง was released in year 1978 and lasts 1h45mn. It is directed by Ruj Ronnapop. Plaew Suriyong (Sombat Methanee) is back to Thailand after many years in Chicago. His father has been killed. He is immediately kidnapped by ruffians led by Sahat Piempongsan and including Somsak Chaisongkram / Paen Pleumsachai. He has to kill Sarayut (Sor Asanajinda), a popular politician, against a reward of 1M baht and one airplane ticket to go anywhere. Sarayut's wife was fed up with the risks linked to politics so she left him 10 years ago to go to Italy with their young son. Plaew has to be a hitman (มือปืน). Sahat lies to Plaew in order to have Sarayut killed. As Plaew's father was a politician, he would be the right scapegoat. A lady called Romanat (Duangcheewan Komolsen) helps Plaew to prepare the shooting and gets in love with him. Plaew has one week to do the job. The killing shall happen during a speech. He meets Manop Aussawathep to learn more his father's death. Plaew still wanders who has killed his father, who was also a politician. People, who wish to hurt Thailand, killed his father. They now chase him also. Politics in Thailand is full of bad influence (อิทธิพล), corruption and murders through hitmen. Romanat warns him that people try to kill him. Romanat wishes to flee with Plaew and mentions that she knows Sahat will shot Plaew once the job is done. During the political gathering, Plaew doesn't shoot Sarayut but his opponent. This causes Sahat's ire and Plaew needs to flee to Malaysia. Plaew meets Lucky Jack (Jatuphol Poopirom) in Malaysia but they have to flee to Rome, Italy due to problems with police. Lucky Jack is in fact Sarayut's son! In Rome, Plaew seduces Maria that Lucky Jack also loves. As Sahat threatens to kill Romanat, Plaew has seven days to come back to Thailand. Maria loves Plaew but gets killed during a gunfight. Lucky Jack doesn't forgive Plaew. Plaew and Lucky Jack go back to Bangkok to catch Sahat. Sahat sends Romanat as a gift to lucky Jack acting as a local ruffian. Finally both Plaew and Lucky Jack love again the same woman, i.e. Romanat. Plaew learns that Sarayut is behind his father's death. Misunderstandings happen between Jack and Plaew as ruffians push Jack against Plaew. Meanwhile Sarayut, as smart and evil politician, plays also the two men against each other. Sarayut, as nasty politician, is wishing to send Plaew to trial in order not to be accused of any collusion of the previous shooting done by Plaew. He pushes his own son to shoot Plaew. Finally Plaew shots Sarayut but gets shot by Lucky Jack. This is a typical action movie from the 1970s highlighting the bad sides of the Thai politics.

The movie is built same a theatrical "Likay" (ลิเก) with traditional music. It portrays the Thai culture and way of life though a romance. Peasant Riem loves Kwan but the love is not reprocical. He loves singing Likay. Traditional peasant way of life, watching over buffalo, rice planting, getting fish from rice fields, ceremonies where young men invite girls they like to dance, Songkran ceremony with small pagoda made of sand are gracefully shown. They finally love each other with a promise in front of the local deities tree. But Riem family refuses this love story. Choi, local gangster, injures Kwan with his sword making a scar. This scar is the symbol of their love that nothing can break. Riem's father wants to sell her to the local gangster Choi. Riem's father is local "Kamnan" (กำนัน) but has many debts with Choi as he likes to gamble and drink alcohol. Riem is enslaved with chains. Kwan infliges a scar to Choi also but when he tries to free Riem, it is too late. Her father and Choi have brought her to Bangkok. There she is integrated to a rich Bangkokian family as she has the same face as their deceased daughter. A young man called Somchai is courting her. Riem discovers high society Bangkokian life with balls and European orchestra. The contrast is flagrant with village life and Kwan playing flute on his buffalo. Kwan arrives in Bangkok and searches for Riem. He cannot find her. He chases Choi to know where he sent Riem but during a sword fight, Choi is killed. Three years have passed. Knowing that her mother is sick, Riem goes back to visit her. Kwan has chance to meet Riem but Kwan also understands that she forgot him. He asks again for the support of the local deities. Riem misses her home and Kwan. She finally comes back as her mother is dying. In the past, her mother marries her husband for money in order to be secure but was never happy with him. So she advises her daughter to listen to her heart as love is more important than money. Riem promises to tell Kwan her decision in front of the local deities tree. On the same day, seeing that his father is getting older and older, Kwan promises him to honor his wish to see his son in yellow robes (ชายผ้าเหลือง) as a monk. Learning that Riem is forced to go back to Bangkok, he decides to help her but faces opposition from Riem's family and Somchai. Finally Somchai shot Kwan fatally and he drowns in front the local deities tree. Riem stabs herself and drowns with her beloved Kwan. Kwan's father will never see his son in yellow robes (ชายผ้าเหลือง) as a monk. Historically, Cherd Songsri's movie is a classic tale of star-crossed lovers and was one of the first Thai films to be a success internationally due to the precise representation of rural Thailand. It got Top award at Festival des 3 Continents in Nantes, France in 1981. This movie is part of the first 25 films heritage list announced on October 4 2011, which is Thai Movies Conservation Day.

แผ่นดินของเรา is the movie introducing famous Thai actress, Naowarat Yooktanun, for the first time. Sor Asanajinda, Thai national artist, is the movie director and also actor. A father comes to rest in a house close to sea with his three grown up daughters, Yai (อัจฉรา) the elder, Eung and Pak (ภัคคินี), the youngest. Tamlong (ธำรง), is the one who has transformed this hostile land into an oasis due to his hard work. Pak is the youngest daughter and always dares doing things. All the three girls are impressed by Tamlong's strong personality. During a boar chase, Tamlong saves Pak's life but is injured at the leg. During his recovery at Pak's parents home, Pak and Tamlong declare their love to each other. Tamlong is twice older than Pak (ผู้ชายแก่ๆ). Wedding takes place. Pak marries before her elder sister Yai so Yai is quite upset as according to Thai traditions, she should have married first. Yai is still waiting for her fiance Narin (นเรนท์) to go come back from his studies in France. Pak and Tamlong settle on their new land (แผ่นดินของเรา). Finally Narin and Pak meet. Both of them are hot temper (คนผีทะเล). Yai is too old style (โบราณ), too traditional for Narin. He is fond of Pak. He gets fun of Pak having married an older man. While wandering in their domain, Pak is bitten by a snake but Narin helps her on time. Love feelings start between both of them. Narin becomes jealous of Tamlong and considers stopping his engagement with Yai. Finally Yai accepts Narin advances knowing he is hot temper. Being forced by his parents, Narin shall finally marry Yai next month but it is not a love wedding. Yai is too reserved for Narin. Narin is modern as he studied abroad so he doesn't like Thai traditional stuff anymore and wants external signs of love similar to western behavior. Finally Narin and Pak start an affair as Pak is convinced by Narin's true love. But Pak doesn't dare to leave Tamlong for Narin and is worried to hurt her sister Yai. Tamlong knows something has changed. Pak is challenged by Narin about her real feelings. On the wedding day, Pak and Narin disappear and send a letter to Yai and Tamlong to explain their decision. While fleeing on a boat, Narin and Pak are robbed by ruffians so they run out of money already. Pak discovers harsh life with Narin as he is not a good lawyer and being addicted to alcohol also. They live in a slum. Pak needs to become a street vendor (แม่ค้า). Yai is pregnant with Narin so she feels ashamed. Yai takes refuge in Tamlong's home to hide her pregnancy to her parents. Pak discovers that Narin has a mistress. A night he is out, a fire burns the slum. They lose everything. As Narin is sick, Pak needs to prostitute herself. Tamlong finally finds Pak and asks her to come back to their land. Pak cannot leave Narin as he is sick (ไข้ป่า) and she still loves him. She values Tamlong’s kindness (ความดี, น้ำใจ), who forgives her and gives her money. Narin is sent to jail following a robbery. He refuses to see her again trying to push her to get a new life. Pak finally goes back to Tamlong's land to die there due to severe sickness. This 1976 movie highlights society conflicts between modern and traditional patterns.

A group of young women including Naiyana Shewanan is sleeping together in a big bungalow near the beach. It is the yearly trip organized by their art university (มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร). One of the young ladies recognizes Nat (Krung Srivilai), a male art student of the same university. Back to his home, Soi Dao (Aranya Namwong) is waiting for Nat. Later Nat ends up drinking expensive alcohol with another young lady called Yu (Sasima Singsiri). Nat has no money so is being entertained by ladies. Yu is drunk and Nat brings her home but June (Piathip Kumwong) has time to recognize him. Nat sees women as sexual objects and lies to each of them (เจ้าชู้). He goes from Soi Dao to Yu. Soi Dao is finally pregnant (ลูกเศรษฐี). Soi’s father is played by Sor Asanajinda and Soi’s mother is played by Juree Osiri. They are concerned about their family name and they don't want Soi Dao to marry anybody. Soi Dao wishes to go abroad as Nat doesn’t show interest anymore. Nat is not sure if Naiyana loves him as she is aware of his butterfly activities. Playing a game with another man, Soi Dao arouses Nat to get back his interest through jealousy. The left sequence ends up here. In 1975, this movie makes a lot of noise because of some daring scenes (หนังโป๊ๆ เปลือยๆ).

Chadaporn Wachirapranee is found kissing Chanee by Sombat so Chanee gets punched and Chadaporn gets scolded. Sor Asanajinda stops them. Hill tribe Krai Kanchit sets side with Chanee. Chanee becomes the new village leader following a putsch. An army helicopter lands and heavy fighting happens with Chanee's men. Sombat and two friends are kidnapped by a group of village women led by Aranya, who use them as their “toys”. General actor Man Teeraphol is leading the soldiers. As the ladies throw their clothes away, the three men have to wear Tarzan clothes. The ladies end up in bikini also. Fighting happens with ruffians. They try to release the village leader but without success. One of Sombat’s friends loses his girlfriend, being raped and killed by ruffians. Kaenjai Meenakanit is the real leader of the ruffians. She likes Sombat. Sombat has to be very careful as Chanee knows who he is. One of Sombat’s friend disguises himself into a weird Chinese master. Aranya and her girls are captured while trying to meet Sombat. Krai changes side. Final heavy fightings happen. Krai and Chanee shot each other. Chadaporn, who holds a timer bomb, throws herself on Kaenjai as she understands she has been dumped by Chanee and Kaenjai.

แม่ย่านาง is a 1970 movie in VCD format featuring a still colorful picture and lasting 1h54mn. An additional 30mn reel (the reel number 2) is available through a Thai collector. Young lady Prang (Sopha Sataporn) is waiting for Jiaw (เด็กวัด) to give alms (ตักบาตร) to the monks but he doesn't come today. Jiaw (Mitr Chaibancha) is a temple boy with a kind heart (ใจบุญ) so seeing Jom and his friends trying to steal money donated to the temple, he tries to prevent them to rob money to buy alcohol. Unfortunately he gets accused by Jom so the abbot believes he is the robber. Jiaw is chased from the temple. He decides to sell food (ขายของ) with his two friends by navigating on a boat on river and canals. A mysterious spirit Mae Ya Nang (ผีหลอก) (Pissamai Wilaisak) on the boat bow helps them to get business. Jae (Kaenjai Meenakanit), a shop vendor, likes Jiaw a lot but he is not interested. Sithao Petcharoen has issues with his wife as she doesn’t accept he has mistresses. Prang is seen as a young sister (น้องสาว) only by Jiaw. Jiaw seems to love his boat more than anything else despite strong interest from Jae and Prang. Jae is under a charm (ถูกเสน่ห์). As uncle Man (พฤหัส บุญหลง - Preuhat Boonlong) breaks the spell, the black magician tries to kill uncle Man. As it fails, he sends Jom and his team protected by magic tattoos. Once again the spirit Mae Ya Nang (แม่ย่านางเรือ) protects Jiaw. In a previous life, the mysterious lady and Jiaw knew each other. The mysterious lady was a princess (ลูกหญิง). As the King's boat (พระองค์) was attacked by pirates, the King ordered Jiaw to take away the princess and to protect her. Jom, who was the head of soldiers, was treacherous to his King and killed him. Sor Asanajinda is the father of Jom. Before dying, Jiaw's friend succeeded to reach him and told the truth about Jom. Spade fighting happened between Jom and Jiaw. Jiaw won and Jom died (ทรยศ). The princess didn't trust the uncle Sor and asked Jiaw to organise their escape. Jiaw was split between his love to the princess and the love to the kingdom. The uncle Sor asked him to leave to preserve the princess. As he finally refused, he was killed by a guard. Knowing his death, the princess got suicide. Back to the present, the black magician sends Jom to kill Jiaw and the uncle Man. Prang and Jae are kidnapped by the black magician (อาจารย์). Jiaw shall avoid any bad actions (จ้องเวร จ้องกรรม) to hope being reunited with the princess one day. Jom kills the black magician as he made a love philter for himself to seduce Jae and Prang instead of doing it for Jom. Through a final fight with Jom, Jiaw is killed while protecting the abbot (in fact the king in a previous life) with his own body. Jiaw failed to protect the King in his previous life but in this life, he saves the monk. Jiaw and the princess are reunited in heaven. The 1h54mn movie is really great but the additional 30mn reel reveals additional details of the movie: Jae is upset that Jiaw prefers to sleep on the boat than with her. Jiaw helps to prevent a kidnapping of Jae. Sithao suggests Jom to visit the black magician to get spells. He is a bad guy always trying to abuse for his own purpose people asking for love philter. Through a sexy scene with an unknown veteran actress, the black magician makes a love philtre to seduce her instead of doing one for her to seduce back her husband Sithao. It is highly probable that this scene would have been cut on any VCD release. Seeing the power of love filters, they recommend the black magician to the villager trying to seduce Jae. As old movies were long, each actor / actress always had the opportunity to have his own long scene to please his fans. It is also very frequent to see Thai people onlookers in outdoor scenes such as market. It was additional potential customers to come watching in cinema to see if they were in the movie! The original movie features 5 songs but the DVD only features 1 song.

A robber has a young son, called Praiwan. They save one young woman and her baby girl. In parallel, her husband, who is a king, is expelled from his kingdom and imprisoned. The baby girl is called Suriya Noi (daughter of the sun) and has a powerful necklace. Whoever wants to catch her will suffer heat and be burnt. Praiwan and Suriya Noi sympathize and have supernatural powers (ผู้วิเศษ). Finally Suriya Noi and her mother go back to the kingdom. But the mother is imprisoned and the daughter is given to another family, where she is treated as a slave. A few years have passed, Praiwan has become an adult. He searches for Suriya Noi. He is trapped by the king and his mistress, who pretends to be Suriya Noi. She wants to become the queen but the imposture is uncovered. Praiwan makes Suriya Noi pregnant. Suriya Noi has a child called Suriyan. Despite Praiwan bad behavior, Suriyan keeps gratitude (กตัญญู) over her father. A sorcerer (แม่มด) wishes to help the imposter king in order to defeat Suriya Noi and Suriyan. They can be only defeated if their husband / father kills them. The plan fails and the movie ends happily with the right king reinstalled and Praiwan, Suriya Noi and Suriyan reunited as a family. A remake was done in 1986 with Sorapong Chatree. The remake takes place in 20th century and machine guns fights have replaced sword fighting.

Sombat and the spirit doctor enter in Pa Sor’s house to get some of the missing ingredients. Sombat meets Chadaporn and then Aranya. Wilaiwan Watthanaphanit is the mother of the two daughters, i.e. Chadaporn and Aranya. Sombat is injured by the bandit he defeated before to become the village leader. Chana Sriubon neutralises the bandit so that Sombat can run away. Luechai Natnat is then also injured in Pa Sor's house and flees. He is chased by ruffians but gets help from Sombat. Sombat comes back again to the house to have discussion with Pa Sor and ends up kidnapping Aranya and Sasitorn. Sawin and his ruffians chase them. Chana Sriubon tries to prevent them but gets neutralised. Sombat seems very unhappy over Aranya. Aranya saves Sombat's life while he is attacked again by the rogue bandit. Sawin captures Pa Sor and Chana Sriubon. Aranya asks Sombat to help Pa Sor captured by Sawin. Wilaiwan releases Chana. Luechai gets rid of Sawin. Final duel happens between Sombat and Pa Sor until they realise they are relatives (father / son?).

It is a movie in which many famous Thai actors and actresses played, i.e. Mitr Chaibancha, Petchara Chaowarat, Aranya Namwong, Sor Asanajinda, Taksin Jampol, Adul Dulyarat, Dokdin Kanyaman, Lor Tok, Preeya Roongrueng, Kingdao Daranee. It was Aranya Namwong’s first movie. She was just awarded during a recent Miss Thailand beauty contest. An orchestra was used for the movie theme sung by Aranya Namwong. 16mm movies used a single camera for the shooting. Various sequences can be seen, i.e. Charin and Lor Tok helping Mitr Chaibancha and Taksin Jampol engaged in a fight with ruffians. Another sequence is involving Petchara Chaowarat wearing a beautiful dress and featuring the movie theme song. It is the dress that can be seen on the movie poster. A sequence of Charin and Aranya Namwong can be seen. Those sequences were recorded in 35mm format so that the original song was together with the movie reel. Other sequences are recorded in 16mm format so requesting a live dubbing. Other sequences feature Mitr Chaibancha and Petchara Chaowarat together on a small boat. A funny sequence with Dokdin Kanyaman singing can also be seen. Worth to notice that in real life Mitr Chaibancha and Kingdao Daranee were married. Petchara Chaowarat and Charin Nantanakorn married later in year 1975.

Sadet Phi and Nong Jing have a daughter called Sa No Noi (Petchara Chaowarat). She gets a golden house (เรือนทอง) as a gift. Astrologers predict her a great future. A demon follows the family and wishes to kidnap Sa No Noi. Sa No Noi needs to leave the kingdom. She meets an hermit, who gives a magical medicine (ยาวิเศษให้คนตายฟื้นได้). Sa No Noi is coming from a palace (ชาววัง ) so she is not used to harsh life. She helps a poor girl called Kula, who has been bitten by a snake. They need to steal food to eat. They arrive in a city where the prince (Chaiya Suriyun) is sleeping for 7 years. Sa No Noi helps to prepare the magical medicine to wake him up. As Sa No Noi doesn't feel well while the Prince is awakening, Kula changes her clothes and pretends to be the one who saves the Prince (พระราชบุตร). Sa No Noi is disappointed (น้อยใจ) with Kula as she saved her life before. She becomes Kula's servant. Kula refuses to give back the medicine to Sa No Noi. The Prince wishes to help Sa No Noi. This movie features typical characters from 1960s movies. The leading actress (นางเอก) is a nice polite shy princess coming from a good family lady. The jealous lady (นางอิจฉา) seduces men first, kisses them or is ready to make love immediately without waiting the wedding. She has no education. She is poor, lazy and deceitful. To try to prevent the wedding the family gives difficult tasks for Kula to do (flower composition...). Only a good educated lady can execute such tasks so Kula forces Sa No Noi to do it for her. The prince leaves the palace for a government mission but in fact he wishes to find Sa No Noi's golden house to prove her real identity. He faces a typhoon but finally reaches Sa No Noi's kingdom and brings back the house. Under Sa No Noi's guidance, the golden house become a real house with servants. Sa No Noi's real identity is revealed and she forgives Kula. On the way back to her kingdom with the Prince, their boat is wrecked and they are separated. The prince meets an hermit. Sa No Noi meets again Kula who plays a trick with her despite all of her previous goodness. A noble man called Wilai meets Kula. She lies to him pretending she is a princess. Meanwhile Sa No Noi has been rescued by Wilai's parents. Sa No Noi delivers a baby, whose father is the Prince. Kula kidnaps the baby. The baby is rescued by another hermit. The baby is called Paiwan. Kula is captured by some robbers and become the leader's wife. While Sa No Noi is going back home, her convoy is attacked by the ruffians. The Prince just comes back and helps on time. The whole family is reunited. Kula is punished and transformed as a cow. The story of Sa No Noi is part of Thai folklore. This story is also available through a TV Thai serie (1984) and many cartoons. This old movie last two hours and fifteen minutes. It has a very good and colorful image quality. The last part of the movie is certainly too fast paced as it is difficult to narrate such a long story in only two hours.

Many other characters are present such as Chanee Yotchai as ruffian, Ruj Ronnapop (Mayong), Sukon Koewliam, Choomporn Theppitak, Taksin Jampol (Bo Bang Rajan), Preeya Roongrueng, Adul Dulyarat (captain). Ai Darling and Jing gang fight over Sena Prachan. Tat (Tat Ekathat) is head of police. Mayong is shot facing seven ruffians. Chao Likim hits his own daughter considered as a traitor (ลูกสาวทรยศ). Sena Prachan helps but is also finally captured. Jing Gang’s parents are Somkuan (Somkuan Krajangsat) and Thanyong (Sarinthip Siriwan). Thanyong gets shot while helping Bo Bang Rajan, who is also an undercover military officer. Sor Asanajinda is also playing. A train is chased by a car and an helicopter through Songkhla region landscape. Somkuan, a repent (ผู้ร้ายที่จะกลับใจ), is forced by Chao Likim to be part of a prisoner exchange deal (แลกตัว) but he is carrying a bomb. The movie ends up with multiple shootings between ruffians and the heroes. Somkuan gets shot by Chao Likim but this latter also gets shot by Jing Gang and Sena Prachan.

Chaiya helps to get a flag back to avoid Sombat to be executed. The story is inspired by the Three Musketeers from French author Alexandre Dumas. Finding and watching the 1983 version would allow better understanding of the 1965 behind the screen sequences. Being three years old, kid Wang is carried in a red satin cloth (โจรแพรแดง) by his mother Phikul (Somjit Sapsamruey). Phikul drops the baby in front of Nai Somporn’s house. Wang is the child of Phikul and Somporn, but Somporn broke up with Phikul to marry another lady called Ladda. Domestic helper lady Chap recognizes Wang and manages his education to save face to her employer Nai Somporn. At 10 years old, as the domestic helper dies, Wang is alone again. Somporn and Ladda keep beating Wang as they despise him. Wang quits the house with his red satin cloth and looks for his real mother Pikul. By chance, ruffian Thieng escapes death as the Police don’t dare to shoot him as they are afraid to hit the child Wang. Ruffian Thieng takes Wang with him and raises him as his own child. Despite living about robbers, Wang (Mitr Chaibancha) grows up as an honest man. Soi (Orasa Isarangkul), daughter of ruffian Thieng, likes Wang but Wang doesn’t like her as her elder brother Thiep likes to bully him. One night, Wang helps young lady Duang Kae, who has been kidnapped by ruffians. Love emerges and they promise to meet again. The problem is that Duang Kae already has a fiance, Palat Charin. Knowing about the kidnapping, Palat Charin decides to send Thai Police to catch the robbers. Ruffian leader Thieng is betrayed by ruffian Hao and his son Hiem. He is shot dead. Wang has a misunderstanding. He wishes to get revenge on Duang Kae and prepares to rob her house. During, he faces Phikul, being Duang Kae’s mother-in-law, and being his own mother! The robbing ends well. Somporn and Ladda prepare a plan to get rid of Wang and use Phikul and Soi to attract him. It ends as a duel between Wang and Somporn. In the short remaining sequences, Orasa dies in Mitr’s arms. His mother gives him the red silk as Orasa just died.

Four friends are living together, 3 men and one woman, Pen (เพ็ญ). They rent an old boat from Pen’s father and repair into a boat house to live on it (เรือนแพ). Kaew (แก้ว) wishes to become a Thai boxing champion (นักมวย). Lin (รินทร์) wishes to become singer and songs compositor. Chen (เจน) wishes to finish first grade his studies and become a policeman. Pen is the lady. All three friends secretly love Pen. Many songs are featured in the movie. Kaew wishes to participate to real Thai boxing competition instead of only doing trainings. He is very hot temper. A local ruffian head, Ekarat, finds a fight for him and he wins. A song master hears Lin's beautiful voice and wishes to recruit him. A thunderstorm wrecks their home and they nearly escape to death. Kaew saves Pen from drowning so winning her heart and love (หนูเป็นของเขาแล้ว). Kaew wants to win big money to take care about Pen but he needs to do illegal things such as losing a match. He refuses to do so causing Ekarat's ire. He meets another Lopburi influant man. He gives 40 000 baht for his wedding with Pen. On the way to Chiang Mai for the wedding, Kaew discovers that Pen's father is preparing the wedding with somebody else! Upset he disturbs the ceremony and shots the groom. He has to flee and becomes an outlaw (ผู้ร้าย). The four friends have gone different paths (ตามดวง). Kaew gets friend with another ruffian. They rob banks and barges together. Chen, who is now a policeman, needs to catch Kaew as it is his duty. He tries to convince him to surrender but no to avail as Kaew is afraid to go twenty years in jail. Kaew and Pen still meet together. Pen wishes Kaew to stop robbing (หยุดปล้น). Even if Kaew wishes to stop, his ruffians friends discourage him saying no woman will wait for him so long in jail. On top of this they are still chased by the police so no time to rest and think. During a singing performance, Lin is shot and killed by one of the ruffians. Kaew cannot help on time. Chen believes Kaew is the one who shot Lin. They all meet on their format boat house. Kaew accepts to surrender but other ruffians shot him and Chen. The movie ends tragically, Kaew dying while sending the boat on the ruffian to smash him. Only Pen survives. The friendly happiness is no more. เรือนแพ is the first officially restored Thai movie by USA in years 2006-2007. It is a 50 years old movie and the VCD from “Phanmitr" (พันธมิตร) collection company includes a copy in very good condition. It was the first Thai movie in 35mm with songs and not dubbing like 16mm movies. Even the Thai King went to watch the movie in 1961! Chaiya Suriyun was the first star to win three consecutive Thai oscars (รางวัลตุ๊กตาทอง) in years 1962-1964. His first Thai oscar was thanks to this movie “เรือนแพ”. The movie got 3 oscars (best actor, best supporting actor, best movie). It was adapted many times as Thai TV series and another time for cinema in 1989 with Santisuk Promsiri.
