Only four rickshaws are licensed to carry passengers in Hong Kong. The government stopped issuing new licences in year 1975.

The owners of Hong Kong's last four working rickshaws said the relocation of the Star Ferry pier
could mean the end of their business which has fallen dramatically since the move.

The red carriages with their green canopies stood near the newly opened pier carrying
signs reading "Good rickshaw for sale" and "For rent".

The 50 HKD licences must be renewed annually.

Each licence stipulated a set route, from the old Star Ferry pier in Edinburgh Place to Statue
Square.

The rickshaws are competing for paying passengers and also looking for new owners.
The rickshaw drivers are now more than 70 years old and hope to sell their vehicles for 10 000 HKD.
They charges 10-20 HKD for photographs and 50-200 HKD for rides.
