LAMMA

Lamma island is located in the southwest of Hong Kong Island. It is 13.5 square kilometers with an estimated population of 6 000.

	There are ferries to go to Lamma from Central piers. Another option is to take a small boat (Kaido) from Aberdeen.

	There is a nice hike through the mountains from Sok Kwu Wan to Yung Shue Wan.

(1) There is a pending development on Lamma island, i.e. a Marina with hotel, 800 flats and a car park #hongkong (2) Many villagers sold their land to the developper but to make it happen a change of conversion zoning is needed (3) Some people support the project for because it would bring more tourists. Other people reject it as it is pristine natural area (4) Hopefully it will not happen as Lamma island is one of the last place that allows easy fresh fast escape from HK island high (5) density areas. Not everybody is living on the Peak. Already rejected in 2010 but a new 2011 plan application is ongoing...
