Island House was built in 1905.
It stood on a small islet called Yuen Chau Tsai near the head of Tolo Harbour.
It is a classic example of the colonial architecture.
It was erected as quarters for government officers and was associated
with the New Territories Administration.

It is now used by the World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature as a Conservation Studies Centre.

It also acts as a local gathering point for the area's elderly.

1913. Declared a monument in 1984,
the station now houses the Hong Kong Railway Museum.
